Seeing Maoists as they are

The arrest last week of Maoist Polit Buro member Kobad Ghandy has been a matter of intense media interest. The fact that he went to Doon School, trained in London as a chartered accountant, cooked very good chicken etc have been written with such compassion that one is unable to figure out whether the policemen who arrested him did something wrong.
A large section of India’s intelligentsia is still romantic about the armed struggle that Maoists are fighting to give justice to the poor, dispossessed bottom population of India. It’s time they woke up and saw the Maoists for what they are.
In 2008 alone, the Maoists killed more than 700 people - which included children as young as four years and badly-paid police constables — the closest they can reach to the mighty state of India. None of their victims was a capitalist - who they say are the exploiters. Most of them were tribals, whose right they are allegedly fighting for. Dozens of teenage children  -including girls - have been arrested by the police during live encounters with Maoists. It’s only reasonable to assume that these children were kidnapped - unless they were born into Maoist philosophy and left home before then turned 10, inspired by ideology!!
Cleaning up the Maoist mess is a priority area of the UPA during its second tenure. That’s necessary for the fruits of India’s development to reach its poorest. Maoist do not let that happen - they blow up schools, mine the roads, blast electricity and mobile towers, disrupt rail construction and terrorise teachers, doctors and government servants. Are they in anyway helping the poor that they claim to be fighting for?
It’s time we realised that Doon School education and JNU training are no reason to condone criminal activities. The so-called “underlying causes” cannot be the reason for such wanton violence.
Lot many Jihadis also went to world’s best institutions and claim to have reasons for organising the mass murder of innocents. Every criminal is the product of a social environment. While there is no disputing the fact we must strive for a just society, we must recognise the fact that Maoists are hindrance to that that very goal.

right say brother, first of all they doesn’t beleive in democracy thats why disrupt the election. they take levies from the forest mafia and makes money out of it. if you notice the trible whome they are fighting for they are still poor and exploited. if you notice the so called intelletuca like ramchandra guha ,arundhati roy, most of it keep mum when they killed innocent people(i personaly know a friend of mine who was dalit and was in police ,who maoist shot dead in election, whose child was still in womb), and make hulla when police shot dead maosit they cry for human rights.
they say that form talk we can settle this problem but they really think that maoist will stop their dream is to hold red flag on laal kila, and now they are collaborating with isi and pakistan terrorist groups, forgetting marx. you say it right that studying in jnu and doon school doesn’t make you exceptional and give you right to do crime
