Poor planning

Twelve years after India’s fashion industry became “organised”, it’s rather disappointing to see events see people running after brands and individuals for funds. Nothing seems to be organised when it comes to most events done by established fashion bodies.

If funds are in place then people run around for venues. If venues are in place they run around for designers to be part of the event. What the hell is going on?

I suspect that the main fault lies in the bodies or those command them. Even without a sponsor they announce the event. Then running around for funds begin. And when the funds don’t come, they resort to all sort of cheap tactics to blackmail. And when some one shows pity and give some money then comes the problem of participants. And then collection of participants begin. And when those who decide to be part of the event ask about the rest of the names who the event has, the organiser refuse to divulge. And the first few who decide to be part of the event back out. Then the running begins again and collection of participants by “whatever you ask I will give” means begin. End result? A hotch potch event.

Excellent way of doing things don’t you think? When will those who run the body realise that this is the most juvenile way of doing things? It’s such a pity that after a decade of being such an ‘organised’ industry all we have is things like this.

Unless they put their house in order, degeneration that has already started will eat up the whole industry. Till then let’s see how long they continue to ridicule themselves!

    Kushal,
“I’m sure all of you everywhere have your own childhood memories of provision shopping, but I think mine are the most magic.”
Maybe yes, maybe not. But, you certainly brought yours alive. Great read.
