Venue Dilemma

To make the event a success, it’s also important to have a venue that’s permanent for fashion weeks

After many seasons of successful fashion weeks only that New York Fashion Week chose to shift its venue from Bryant Park to Lincoln Centre last season. British Fashion Council for long has been organising London Fashion Weeks at the Natural History Museum on Cromwell Road in London and Paris Fashion Week is synonymous with the Carrousel du Louvre.

For us, it’s about time that we had a venue that also should synonymous with our fashion week. The one being held in Delhi being the oldest and the biggest in the country, I feel that it’s about time that the event found a place where it can settle down for a long time.

When fashion weeks started in the country it always found the best venue in five star hotels. Those days it was feasible as the event was rather small in terms of participating designers. But as the number increased, venue got shifted from hotels to outside areas. The best by far has been that of Pragati Maidan. Despite the fact the the security, etc can be pissing off sometimes, and the approach from the main entry till the venue often being long and harrowing, the expanse of the hall made it the best venue on all counts.

The venue is clean ans well structured as opposed to the one in Okhla in Delhi where the event was held sometime back. It can accommodate a large number of stalls in the exhibition area without being claustrophobic. Show areas are nice and located next to each other. Lounges and cafes too have their space in the most comfortable areas.

I wonder whether we can have this as the permanent venue in the coming seasons for Delhi fashion week. Efforts thus should be made to make it a regular venue rather than the organisers running around each season looking for a place to host the event. By doing so the event will lose its sheen and number two, unwanted and unexpected troubles in terms of licences and permissions will also crop up as it happened it the past.

Sometime back there were big talks about how the government is going to grand land to the Fashion Design Council of India where it will set up a ‘Fashion Hub’ with permanent venue for fashion weeks, a five star hotel where the visiting dignitaries can stay, permanent designer stalls, etc. That time I thought atleast now we will have a place where events can be held regularly and fashion weeks and its venue will have an identity. Alas, that later proved as all talks in the air and nothing ever moved in that direction.

Till such a time we have a place on the lines as a “Fashion Hub”, one should make a valiant attempt to atleast stay in one area and make the event look like a successful one rather than a nomad.

boring and pretty shallow commentary. everyone is giving their 2p on this subject – there is a rat race on to show how intellectual one is, how different one can think, such is the peer pressure
in that rat race, this is a pretty lack lustre performance

discovery of higgs boson is a milestone scientifically – although given the challenges known to science it is not even a baby step. we are nowhere near answering ultimate questions of physical world let alone meta physical world. dont know what is the connection of god etc with it. and why all & sundry feel pressurized to take a stab at it

God doesnt exist, so cant be “discovered”. The “god particle” is postulated to be the building block of the universe – not some imaginary being.

There is nothing about this discovery that supports the extraordinary claim that a god or gods exist. It’s unfortunate that the nickname “god particle” misleads many believers. The fact is, to date, no field of science has uncovered any compelling evidence for a god. Gods may exist, of course, but at this time there are no sensible reason to think they do.

Science is reasoning. God isn’t discovered by this discovery. He was only reasoned through the experiment. Every science experiment is for a better reason. The discovery of particle does explain points which are critical to mass and birth of heavenly bodies and thus universe.
One still has to discover God by his own. Whichever religion you choose, whichever faith you follow, God will still be something to be discovered. As God is not only about how one become a mass of living thing, but also a big why?

Just one century back atom was the fundamental unit of element, later on electron, proton, quark came to light. So how scientists can say with finality that Higgs Boson is fundamental particle responsible for Universe.

My dear friend, it is only a name, a nickname rather. However scientists, being people who live in the society, also use terms which are fancy and catchy. Don’t put too much into it. The importance of Higgs Boson, the “God Particle” discovery is more scientific than anything to do with discovery of God. But then every scientific discovery may change or qualify the existing religious beliefs and that is nothng special to Higgs Boson. It has been so with the theory of relativity or discovery of atom etc.

There is only one GOD. Different names have been given by man n communities over a time. This GOD has created all the universes , galaxies. This experiment has discovered only one of the hidden secrets. Like this there are million and billion secrets still to be discovered. Every child is very happy to see something new in his life time. The same way , let this scientific community remain happy and busy in discovering more. let things happen and we watch as spectators as if seeing a movie.

From time immemorial man has been putting his best efforts to
prove the non-existence of God. The more he tries to prove with his obvious
limitations, he sadly finds more evidence to support His existence. Humans’
latest efforts to confine a mighty God to a sub-atomic particle seem be incomplete
and inconclusive once again. Mahatma Gandhi once wrote: “God is smaller than an
atom, but bigger than the Himalayas…” This sums up God’s greatness as well as
nearness to everything He has created. A few decades ago, scientists had
claimed that given sufficient knowledge they could solve all human problems.
But over the decades, with the enormous growth of scientific knowledge, the
problems have also more than doubled. What a paradox! Centuries ago, inspired
by God, the Apostle Paul wrote: “…they did not like to retain God in their knowledge…”
(Romans 1:28), and he explains further by saying: “…the existence of God is
understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.” It
would be wiser for scientists to direct their efforts towards constructive human
    development.

Science is not true. What we read in schools as Chemistry ten years back has undergone lot of changes now. So is Physics and mathematics. Science cannot find answers for basic things. Say water for example, imagine this material for which so many uses are there. Who else can create such a material other than God. It is there as sea water, get evaporated and forms cloud, and comes down as rain, flows in the rivers, you use it for drinking, washing etc dirty it as much as possible, yet it flows down to the sea and comes back as rain. All these centuries the science could not find a substitute for this material. Due to shortage of water there is famine. People die. We could not find a solution other than fetch water from somewhere. God is everywhere. He comes in the form of air, water, fire etc. Without this you cannot live. All that you can do is to pollute them as much as possible and call that god is non existent. .

    Eureka
moment in our life’s journey with God.

The discovery of God particle; Higgs Boson is not
new for India. The Indian Vedic Scientists and the seers have traced the same
long back. It has been described as Creator; Vishvakarma in the Vedas.

    The discovery of God
particle will open the key for interpretation of Vedas. The Vedic knowledge
start with the discovery of God particle

The building block of the creation is atom and the
building block of the living-beings is DNA, which is universally present in the
    biological world.

The highest truth of the creation is in three
components of nature. They feed and operate the system without end.

The modern Science has yet to touch this height.

No one can deny the fact that the sun is the infinite source of
    elementary particles.

    The electromagnetic bond energy
is responsible for synthesis and degradation with time. It maintains the
equilibrium in the nature and natural components.

The DNA with four bases is universally present in the living-beings.
The immortal DNA is blue chip of life.

The living-beings with cycle of rebirth and death have generated the
infinite nature at their own with bio-geo-chemical cycle in the nature. It has
    been described in

    Rig.10-81-3,4
    and Rig.4-58-1,2,3,4

The Scientists, who have the knowledge of the creation system, atom and
    DNA can understand it.

It will give further direction to work on role of DNA in
life that why two individuals have different DNA and fate in life? It can also
explore further the mystery of Indus Valley.

    It has been expressed
by Gods’tongue, nucleus of the atom is truly Amrita’s centre.

    FORTH from
the ocean sprang the wave of sweetness: together with, the stalk it turned to
    Amrita.

    That which is
holy oil’s mysterious title: but the Gods’ tongue is truly Amrita’s centre Rig.
    4-58-1

An invisible field lying across the universe
gives particles their mass, allowing them to clump together to form stars and
    planets.

It has been described in the Vedas as Vishvakarma; the Creator that
creation came into the existence from a fundamental energy, it has maintained
its continuity in atom, molecules and matter, it has been expressed by He the Sole God, producing earth and
heaven, weldeth them, with his arms as wings, together.Rig.10-81-3

The bond energy of the atoms has been expressed, that
it is just like his arm as wings, which bind the atoms. The space which has imparted gravity is omnipresent. It is present
    within us also.

    Ye thoughtful
men enquire within your spirit whereon he stood when he established all things Rg.10-81-4

    It has been expressed that
the sole God- fundamental energy has produced the creation, he is present
    everywhere, and within you also.

    Ajay,

What if babu’s start demanding bribe to run the software (in other words, let the software deposit money to the accounts of the targeted beneficiaries) every month ? We shouldn’t forget that the there will be a huge chain of officers for maintaining all the process at different levels.

But unfortunately, this scheme is definitely going to get what the UPA wants…. the votes in next elections. Majority of the poor, illiterate voters are not going to care about what 2G or CWG was/is. They will vote for a party who will promise direct money transfer in their accounts.

this is nothing but a scheme to skim the money from the poorest of poorest indians and as per the corrupt congress records and the many congress gunda ministers involved this is sure fire way of looting them. one should be wary that such schemes are thought of and launched by the lungi wearing chodu-umbram and (the one who got elected by fraud in last election and who had been the master mind of all the countries biggest scams)
this sardar prime minister has no guts to start any thing that is beneficial to indians and is simply a yes man to his master the italian maid so there is no credibility there. t
the fact is that these scamsters would never give up unless they are all in tihar jail and soon.

There are a lots of ways of corruption here. Congress or their ministers will send money to wrong accounts. Where money is transferred will not be transparent. If all transfers are first publicly announced on internet, and then there is a private party scrutinizing this money transfer i.e. who is getting the money, may be then corruption may be less. I have my all doubts, how UPA government will change its nature of corruption. UPA has designed it as another method of corruption.

You cannot keep on inventing new bicycles to keep your learning (read skimming) process on. Instead of Cash Transfer, which are a source of headache in Australia (centerlink) as well with a far smaller population, work could have been done on improving the PDS system. In your lingo, that is one bicycle that we have fallen of many times so…!? Your observations about Australia are totally flawed because you have given a layman’s account. I have spent 5 years in Australia and Centerlink was one of my objects of study. Today I’ve friends who are working with the Aus govt and hear routine rants about the porousness of the system. And all this with a population that would note exceed the combined population of Delhi and Mumbai..! Have you forgotten that in April this year only the Aus govt had to pass an order prohibiting the usage of centerlink’s money for booze, cigarettes, porn and gambling…!?
So ‘mate’ take it easy with inaccurate analogies..!

while it is true that there could be many glitches in the implementation initially of the Direct cash transfer, enough time has been invested to somehow make modifications in existing systems to see that the genuine needy get their due and not be robbed by not the rich but by the very same poor people. One would not expect a poor to rob another poor but that is just what seems to happen at the grass roots level. This may fail but it is definitely worth trying and who knows once implemented with modifications based on the problems over a period of time the scheme may work out to be best. Also this is the only way for the government to reach the Aam Admi without middle men. the officials cannot be deemed as middle men. There would be problems with the officials as well. But that problem also can be solved with technology over some time,
