Front Row View: Day 2 of WLIFW
On the second day of the delayed Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week on Friday, things seems to have fell in line with each other well. Afternoon marked a scintillating showing by designers Pankaj & Nidhi from the repose of the regulars at showings. They came out with graphic and architecture in silhouettes that were pleasing to the body and in black and white. Morphe by Amit Agarwal on the other hand chose to be in the company of high tech look.
Vineet Bahl made a clear deviation from his usual ‘pretty’ clothes and decided to come on the runway this time with something different such as military jacket, modal jersey drape top Lurex patch jackets and gold ivory silk chiffon panel dress. Pashma, the label that brought the much-desired warmth on the ‘autumn/winter’ showing had some chic cashmere and silk blend collection with stoles and caps. It was stylish while Rehane made it a point to introduce some golden shimmer in her young collection.
Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna and their label ‘Cue’ have by now become one of the most stylishly dependable names in the fashion industry today. Their collection had some of the most stylish garments in clean and straight-line formats that were pleasing to the eye in terms of designs and colour palette. Sanchita too had her signature style in her collection, but her last one seemed to still hover around in the minds of people as a better option when it comes to choosing the best of the two. No doubt, it was well put together.
Shantanu & Nikhil on the other hand came out with an entire line of eveningwear bordering high fashion looks. Black interspersed with bright reds in dresses and gowns were the highlights. Payal Jain’s lineup of jersey and handloom silk dresses was pleasing to the eye as well. They were pretty, chic and high on wearabilty. Rocky S’ showing of Indian wear marked the end of the second day. Earlier in the day were also showings by Joy Mitra, Preeti Chandra, Tanvi Kedia (some pretty outfits) and Virtues by Ashish Viral & Vikrant.
I am still not sure about the new venue being the ideal one for a fashion week. While the show area, I must confess, looked pretty okay with its runway with extra length, the rest of the basic amenities coupled with a rather dusty surrounding area were kind of a put down even on the second day.

Only now do we seem to have some extra dough to be spent on counter espionage activities. How many countries in the world can afford to spend money influencing politics of ohter countries like the USA, once-upon-a-time-USSR and now China? Do they have a BPL population of say 500 million at least?
