LoC killings part of a bigger conspiracy?

Lot’s happening within Pakistan: the country’s in election mode; the Army has revised its India-specific security doctrine to declare domestic terror a bigger danger; a religious preacher of Canadian nationality has dislodged Imran Khan’s Tehrik-e-Pakistan as a major challenger to the established political order.

The crowded Pakistani mind space had little room therefore for the flare-up that left two soldiers dead on either side of the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir. Pakistan was ripple free on the issue that caused a storm in India.

A track-II conference I attended in Lahore on January 8 was addressed by the crème de la crème of the Pakistani leadership: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, former Premier Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. There wasn’t even a passing reference in their speeches to casualties along the Line where the ceasefire had broadly held since 2003.

It was hard nevertheless to de-link the subversion of a robust Indo-Pak military-to-military CBM from the chaos that’s consuming Pakistan.

Was the LoC reignited to internationalise the Kashmir dispute, derail elections due later this year or weaken the anti-terror offensive on Pakistan’s western borders with Afghanistan?

The ‘paradigm shift’ in the army’s approach is predicated on internal security threats from the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other violent groups with ethnic, sectarian and sub-nationalist motivations. A proof of that were the January 10 Quetta bombings that left over 80 dead.

The Army’s revised approach was revealed in the Pak media a few days before the armed face-off on the LoC. The brutal assault triggered outrage in India; reports of mutilated bodies of two jawans, one of whom was beheaded, impairing the forever shrinking constituency for peace with Pakistan. The sentiment favouring a tough Indian response brought the Congress and the BJP on the same page.

Mauling bodies is against all cannons of soldiery. Professionally trained armies are geared to fight, not defile adversaries. But extremists have no such compunction. They are gruesome by design.

The incident in which the raiders took away the soldier’s head was a miniature Kargil – the Pakistan Army’s joint misadventure with elements trained for a protracted proxy war in J&K.

The point to be probed is whether the beheading was the work of regular Pakistani troops or rogues within the army acting in cahoots with killer squads sheltered across the LoC or operating out of Afghanistan and southern Punjab. Neither possibility is far-fetched.

Why? Sections in the Pakistan army’s middle-rung are against fighting the Afghan war at Washington’s bidding. They’re opposed to troop withdrawal from the eastern border with India for deployment on the west with Afghanistan where a plethora of terror outfits are ensconced in the tribal areas. An inflamed LoC suits hardliners in the Army and militants keen on crippling the anti-terror thrust on the Af-Pak border.

The TTP that abhors democracy and advocates Islamic Sharia had threatened to send ‘fighters’ to J&K to counter the army’s internal threat theory. The ideological argument: extension of the struggle for Sharia to Kashmir “where the Pak-sponsored jehad hasn’t yielded results.”

Tactically they want to stall troop movement to the west in pursuance of the internal security threat the army has front-loaded in its revised doctrine. Renewed border tensions with India will pin the troops in the east, complicating Pakistan’s internal security beyond redemption.

An immediate casualty of that could be the general elections due in the first half of 2013. The process is already under threat by Pakistan’s own version of Anna Hazare – a bearded preacher named Tahirul Qadri. His siege of Islamabad against the established political order has drawn people out in thousands to protest rampant corruption, unemployment and lack of basic services. His movement got a boost with the Supreme Court ordering the arrest of PM Pervez Ashraf on graft charges.

Established parties such as the PPP and the PML-Nawaz rubbish Qadri as a pawn in the hands of forces bent upon derailing elections or manipulating results. The allusion’s to the army and some foreign players. Qadri’s a Canadian passport holder and his frontline supporter, the MQM’s Altaf Hussain a British national.

A partner in the PPP-led coalition, the MQM is attracted by Qadri’s burgeoning middle-class base that once rooted for Imran Khan.

The developing situation calls for an honest scrutiny of incidents along the LoC. But the Pakistani proposal for a probe by the United Nations Military Observers’ Group for India and Pakistan was a bit cunning, run as it did against the spirit of the Simla Pact. India hasn’t recognized UNMOGIP after the 1971 war when the LoC was bilaterally negotiated. Ditto for the 2003 promise to cease fire along the line.

    Pakistan denies having killed/beheaded two Indian martyrs. Hence, it is asking for an UN observer’s probe. They can’t be believed.

    I don’t care much about their internal politics. If there is turmoil in their own country or someone has an agenda behind the gruesome act, it is not an acceptable excuse to kill our soldiers.

    The least India must do is to behead a few **** soldiers in response. This is the price they should be prepared to pay for their misdemeanor.

    What happens within Pakistan should not be of any interest to us. A negotiation/discussion etc has meaning only if there is a specific entity responsible for the country – military, civilians, various extremist groups – There is no single authority for that country..

    However, we should be vigilant about what is happening in that neighbourhood 1) US leaving Afghanistan 2) Baluchistan troubles 3) the ongoing Sunni extremism and the army/ISI relationship with the extremists 4) the renewed Kashmir incursion. We should also be aware of the Indian Jehadis-Pakistan relationships . We should also be aware of the central and state ministries here in India actively participating in jeghadi organized conferences — there were two Jehadi conferences in Kerala towards the end of the year – both attended by central ministers as well as “guests” from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. In fact, one of the meeting was called “mujahuddin conference”, and was conducted in a venue called “Salafi nagar”..figure it out.

    There is no meaning in any discussions or any ***-for-tat incursions, unless we can denuke them. We should collaborate with US in achieving that objective. With US leaving Afghanistan, I would think denuking of **** is a very high priority for US too.

    I am of the firm opinion that Sonia Gandhi’s congress will not be forceful with Pakistan for the fear of offending Muslims here – it may be a miscalculation; Indian Msulims may welcome a strong approach ..whatever may be Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi’s faults, she was very strong and committed when the security of the country was concerned – be it the attack on Golden Temple or attack on Pakistan. In those cases she did not worry about vote banks or appeasing. Actually, the only “appeasement” she did was to the poor of the country, and not to any religious or communal sections..

    We discussed about guncontrol in USA, a few days back. I forwarded this argument that total gun control, a la, UK is not possible in USA, however, assault weapons should be banned. This is what is being discussed at length here. I had my fingers on the pulse of the people here.
    Similarly, I warned Vinod about Tahriri square like protest in India about a month before, Anna hazare started his movement. Do I have any special access to news? No, what I stated was obvious to all. The only thing, people with vested interests did, was to close their eyes. Now, you can not make people see, if they chose not to see.
    This is what is happening in India. A relationship with Pakistan is only possible through a position of strength and that too, demonstrable/ demonstrated strength. Pakis are aware of Indian strength, viz : ‘71 war, kargil etc. but they prefer now different route for their objective. The only answer is to speak to them in their language, which they understand. Poems, Money, sentiments, flowers, chocolates do not work with them.

    agree with you. Strength speaks. Pakistan has been double-triple dipping for a long time. But, as long as they have nukes, unless we can denuke them. there is no meaning n any other actions other than cutting off all relations. I believe the citizenry of India has waken up; they will test the government. However, I have a pet peeve..why should a jawan die for a country such as today’s India? why should he die for the politicians and bureaucrats to continue the looting of this great country? Why should he die for a country that is involved in female infanticide? Why should they die for a country where the elected become privileged and not responsive to the citizenry?

    I am optimistic about the Indian youth. They have a purpose and mission , much different from my generation. My generation had high ideals too; but could not put in practice because of the stress to get a job and keep a job in the dismal time period of 70s when the economy was in doldrums, and the available jobs were few. A robust economy has provided freedom to many of today’s youngsters, they can afford to take time off and focus on societal issues, pursue whatever interests they want to pursue. Honestly speaking, I never thought we will achieve the level of current growth and well being (although there is a lot yet to be done).

    Aham Reply:

    Gopi – Either you are being naive or living in some other world. “Indian youth has a purpose”! What purpose they have? Sitting in a park with a gf on lap? Come on. If you generation was tense about job, this generation is tense for accumulating wealth as quickly as possible and having as many as gfs/bfs. And, they are one who are talking peace even after beheading of our soldier at the border. Why? Because nationalism is a passe for them and “internationalism” is in for them.

    nothing gets resolved by talks. problems get resolved by talks with the power to inflict harm as an exercisable option

    limited “surgical” retaliation to **** mischiefs & not war, is the key demand from many sensible common-sense people including experts in defence

    Full blown wars with pakistan? we have won those. There is no doubt in our minds (and pakistan’s mind) that India can win the convention war.

    Nuclear war no one can win

    this step of limited “surgical” aggression is for proving to ourselves that we can master that as well. That is the underlying sentiment. Because now full fledged war wont be allowed, and we always play docile we have never tested our abilities on limited “surgical” strikes. It is a useful weapon that can aid peace process, and can help break some barriers – like a bitter medicine

    Indian public opinion will calm down/ mature/ temper (whatever term you like), only when Indian state is confident that it has achieved mastery over this new smart weapon also. Once the confidence of public is restored, the discourse will mature. Think of some limited surgical actions as tuition fees for this maturity. Once public opinion matures, state will get some more leeway on peace process. NEGOTIATING FROM STRENGTH. Right now India’s sops on peace process is perceived as weakness. It will fail the test of negotiations as the basic tenets of negotiation science are not met – last 10 yrs have shown that.

    Army is absolutely capable, political leadership needs to add this new weapon to armoury of pak policy.

    WE LOVE PEACE. BUT SOMETIMES A LIMITED SURGICAL ACT OF WAR DOES MORE SERVICE TO PEACE THAN HOLLOW AIMLESS PEACENIKING

    Another modern weapon is low capability nuclear war heads

    n yet another incident of politics taking over cricket, a group of Congress leaders, allegedly disenchanted over denial of entry passes for the January 19 ODI, provoked the rival Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) camp by burning an effigy of Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) president

    Amitabh Choudhary at Albert Ekka Square in Ranchi on Tuesday evening.

    Reason: JSCA has invited Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi for the January 18 inaugural ceremony of the newly built international stadium. The Congress leaders alleged that by inviting an accused in the Godhra massacre and in the process overlooking the real heroes of Jharkhand like Sibu Soren and Russi Modi, JSCA has insulted the state and its martyrs.

    here is a para of an article by a Pakistani Punjabi who details why it is falling apart and the attitude of the Punjabis in Pakistan is simply racist towards the UP and Bihari Migrants as well as towards the Bengalis and Balochis.

    to quote DAWN:

    The educational level of India’s Muslims had been generally poor, but that of the Punjabi Muslim was simply pathetic, particularly the business community and the army men had no taste for useless pursuits such as learning and intellect; wealth came as Fazl-e-Rabbi, self-confidence came from the success of the Pakistan Movement, aggressive attitudes were genetic to us as Muslims.

    It has been natural for us to dismiss all our other nationalities with contempt if they disagreed or challenged us. So we evaluated our national diversity like this: Bengalis are black, small, ugly, disloyal crooks, Sindhis are lazy, hateful parasites living off our hard work, Balochis are unclean, lazy, ignorant, pagan fools whom we feed, God knows why. And well, Pathans? They are funny homosexuals and deeply jealous of our high merit. We never stopped our loud claims of everything good and right.

    We lost the defining part of our identity with disgrace and shame in 1971, although we have never admitted to this day that the Bangla Pakistanis were Pakistan’s identity much more than we were. We supported an illegal and immoral massacre by our army, which was illegal because it acted under orders of an illegal government and immoral because it attacked the elected majority. We externalised our guilt instead of bowing our heads in shame; we blamed India and the world for our disgrace. Today, we are again at a similar crossroads with deeper internal chaos and greater international isolation.

    Listening to silky voice and par excellence gazals from Jagjeet Singh. I am a big fan of Begam Akhtar, Mehadi Hassan, Gulam Ali, but Jagjeet is above, all of them. A major policy change decision is being contemplated in Washington, even constitutional amendment- within one month after horrific massacre of children.

    We have feeble institutions here. The state has become predatory (corruption, police inaction, ruled separated from the ruling – democracy without any rights, a real monkey democracy) I believe we should have thrown away the british bureaucracy — a system that was designed for serving a distant king..we inherited it and that system is now serving the present rulers. All the governmental institutions in your country – tax, vehicles, dstrict/counties etc – are subservient to citizens/people — not here!

    While Gujrat leads this nation in industries, MP has set record in Agriculture. BJP ruled states rock. Recently Chhatisgarh government was laudd for its PDS.
    By winning an award for excellence in foodgrain production on Tuesday, Madhya Pradesh may have redeemed itself.
    …While Chouhan hopes to benefit in the state, the agriculture gains may also pay off centrally. By wearing his pro-kisan image on his sleeve, he has succeeded in doing with agriculture and other social sector schemes what his Gujarat counterpart Narendra Modi has done with infrastructure and industries.

    ~~~ TIME TO HANG SOME LAWYERS ~~ RAPISTS AND POLITICIANS ~~~
    —————————————————————————————————
    The Indian judicial system is funny and obnoxious. It allows lawyers to make the most foolish, silly and time wasting statements to de rail the process of justice. That is why time and again I feel that a jury system would just be best for us.
    Look at the statement Owaisi the communal **** made.
    And look at the statements the lawyers of the rape accused are making to get international publicity. In the end they will just say that they are defending the process of law———–
    From yahoo:
    —————————-
    Meanwhile, a lawyer who volunteered to defend one of the six accused, Mukesh, brother of the main accused Ram Singh, said the victim and her friend were responsible for the assault.
    Manohar Lal Sharma, a 56-year-old Supreme Court advocate, said the victim’s friend was responsible for the attack as the couple should not have ventured out on the streets at night.
    He further went on to say that he never heard of a respectable woman being raped in the country.
    Speaking to The Independent, Manohar said: ‘I have not seen a single incident or example of rape with a respected lady. Even an underworld don would not like to touch a girl with respect.’
    Blaming the victim’s friend, Manohar told The New York Times: ‘This all happened because of the lust of the boy. This is the boy who should be hanged. He’s responsible for everything. He should be punished.’
    In an interview with Bloomberg, Manohar was quoted saying that he was ‘confident that the men will be proved innocent because there are a number of problems with the police investigation.’
    “We will plead not guilty. We want this to go to trial,” Manohar told Reuters.
    “We are only hearing what the police are saying. This is manipulated evidence. It’s all on the basis of hearsay and presumption.”
    Manohar said the police had rushed through the investigation against the five men even when they were not ready with the key detail of the age of the sixth member of the group, who lured the woman and a male friend into the bus and, according to leaked accounts, was the most brutal in the attack.
    “When you have not even established the age of this person, how can you
    [Reply]
    vijay ! Reply:
    Well I will only talk about this Manohar.
    The fact is most lawyers I know– when they take up a case– suggest the most ludricuous defence to twist the case that they need to be taught a lesson. In case some lawyers are debarred from practice for putting up strange arguements– we will get better rates of conviction.
    This case is in the media, so probably the judgement would be delivered soon. In 90% of the cases because of such delaying tactics, justice is denied.
    [Reply]
    Anonymous Reply:
    Lawyers job is to defend their clients and in this case the line of defense they have taken is to blame the girl and her friend. It is the job of police to make their case so strong that judge should be left with no choice but to give the harshest punishement of all the accused.
    In no country in the world are frivolous defences used to derail processes of law. I have been to the police station many a time to see how convulated the law has become in India.
    To prove a case the police have to work ten times more in case the lawyer just gets in fallacious time consuming arguments.
    The judges need to de robe and defrock at least 100 lawyers to change the system.
    Gautam Ghambir’s observation on kerala during a break from his games..
    The progress for India can be achieved by bottling Keralas social success and Gujarats economic success, mixing it together, and replicating in other states. We should give it to our IIT/IIM kids as a project; they will come up with strategies and tactics to replicate all over.
    Education matters: Gautam Gambhir explains why
    Gautam Gambhir, Hindustan Times
    Kochi, January 16, 2013
    Cricketer
    Gautam Gambhir during a photo shoot for Hindustan Times initiative ‘You
    Read They Learn’ at Pratham centre at Trilokpuri in New Delhi.
    HT/Virendra Singh Gosain
    Hi guys! I write this sitting in my team hotel in Kochi after we
    bounced back in the One-day series with a win here. I just got off
    reading Hindustan Times newspaper on line which says that 6864 children
    are now going to school thanks to You Read They Learn project.
    Fantastic, isn’t it? And who
    knows what one of these kids may end up achieving tomorrow. I am a great believer in the line “you never know”.
    On Sunday we went on a team boat ride which was then followed by
    “city excursion” with a local friend. It was my opportunity to have a
    firsthand feel of the life here and also interact with the locals. I
    must say that you can make out the difference straight away. How
    literates in a society can makes things so much easier. It was amazing
    to see very little or no begging children on the traffic lights and mind
    you, we didn’t go to the posh areas. This is not to say that there
    would be no have-nots in this city but I am sure they are far less.
    One big reason is that in this coastal state of over 3 crore people
    the literacy rate is more than 93%. It is clear that education ensures
    that people find a way to their livelihoods. What is even better is to
    see is that Kerala’s female literacy is at an astounding 96.02% as per
    the 2011 census.
    In that regard it is clearly a model state and doesn’t surprise me
    that it is rated as the least corrupt state in the country and is also
    the cleanest. Come on guys there is a clear message: literacy can be one
    of the keys to our problems. Lets all get together and make HT’s You
    Read They Learn a grand success and give Kerala a run for the money in
    literacy rate.
    Personally, I’ll be working hard on both, spreading the YRTL message and also my batting!
    The LOC situation has to be viewed from an overall Pakistan situation – on which our government may not have much credible info/analysis.
    Where did this Qadri suddenly come from? Where does he get his money from? Is the supreme court chief justice in collusion with the army?
    Qadri’s statements resonate well with our situation here too. At the end of the big procession/meeting in Islamabad, in front of the parliament, he declared:
    ” There is no parliament, there is a group of looters, thieves, and dacoits . Our lawmakers are the lawbreakers”
    May be Qadri is the man. He seems to be different from the normal mould there; for a mullah, he is not clamouring for jehad, or ranting against Indians or Jews – may be because he is a Sufi. He is pointing to their internal destruction by their own people and the feudalist landlords. He seems to have the support of the army; the question is whether he will be able to enforce a civilian authority on the army if he is successful in the upcoming election.
    Obviously, him bieng a sufi, his life may be in danger – the enthusiasm and admiration the mass (mostly Sunni) has shown for him is baffling, in the sense the majority seems to opt for a cleaner leader, back to bread and butter, and not go after infidels and related monkey business.
    Imran Khan seems to be in the doghouse now; one of his staples was Kashmir and anti-India position; based on what I read, it looks like the mass has ignored that and instead flocking to Qadri. .
    We may benefit from Egrich and Ravi’s on the ground observation on what is happening there.
    However I feel he has been punished only because he dared to speak out against Robert Vadra’s accumalation of wealth through wrong means . Possible that the Congress will make him cry so that he agrees to help the Congress and apologises to Vadra.
    vinoo, Pankaj – This is the institutional failure/flaw of our systems. The US systems are designed to serve the people; not the party in power . Police, FBI, special prosecutor etc are untouchable by politicians. Very rarely a politician uses the state machinery; and in the event ist is caught, the punishment is severe – such as Nixon’s rsignation on watergate, Spirrow Agnews imprisonment, etc etc. The orientation of our administrative systems – to serve the ruler instead of the ruled , a crryover of the British system – -make it easier for govt/politicians to use these to their advantage –
    pankaj#1 Reply:
    100% agree.
    Anonymous Reply:
    Pankaj It is an issue of personal, societal, and institutional collapse/failure. Our leaders used to take personal responsibility for stuff that was remotedly their responsibility – such as Lal Bahadur Shastri resignation from the cabinet after the tragic Ayinallur train accident in Tamil Nadu (then Madras State). K rishna Menon resigned after the Chinese debacle. Kamraj resigned, not because of any fault or blame, but to build the party. (whatever we blame on Rahul, at least he says he does not want any ministershjip because he wants to buld the party– ) Mahathmaji always looked inside for improvement , taking the blame, continuously perfecting. Institutional failure is a major issue because there is nothing to punish and straighten. I come back to the problem i mentioned yesterday. We should have established “people’s”institutiuions instead of continuing with the British administrative system.
    US Networks just now broadcasted a breaking news – that 25 British petroleum employees have been kidnapped by Algerian Al Queda terrorists, and a majority of them have been killed (unconfirmed), including 2 Americans.
    Well, wait and see if 2 Americans have really been killed.. US will bomb that place out of this world….They are not like India who wont do anything when the terrorists walk across the LOC and kill its soldiers.
    few years ago Brahmana Jati Party president, Nitin Gadkari, a
    Brahmin from Nagpur, celebrated his son’s marriage spending Rs.
    4 crore or more. From where did he get so much of money? Party leaders
    did not question him. Shankaracharis blessed him. Our Brahminical media
    (print and electronic) loves corruption stories. The corruption in the
    media is a well-known fact. It came to light in the “Nira Radia tapes”.
    Most of those figuring in the tapes are Brahminical journalists.
    Corruption helps Brahminical rulers to divert attention of the people
    Hindu Taliban Government saffronising school texts: Panel
    K’taka saffronising school texts: Panel
    Anubhuti Vishnoi : New Delhi, Thu Jan 17 2013, 09:18 hrs
    Allegations of saffronisation of school textbooks in BJP-ruled Karnataka have
    reached the Centre with demands for a thorough probe into “academically poor and saffronised textbooks with many a distortion and misrepresentation”.
    The Committee for Resisting Saffronisation of Education has submitted a memorandum to the NCERT as well as to Human Resource Development Minister Pallam Raju alleging that the new textbooks released for class V and VIII by the Karnataka Textbook Society are for most part against the spirit of the National Curriculum Framework 2005 and have a “hidden agenda to instill and build up non-secular values, religious fundamentalism and the idea of a Hindu Rashtra in crores of young and impressionable minds”.
    pankajravi indian media is calling tuq ,a moulvi,just degrading him,
    First of all who is TUQ? According to Wikipedia, Mohammad Tahir
    ul-Qadri (born 19 February 1951) is a Pakistani Sufi scholar and former
    professor of international constitutional law at the University of the
    Punjab.TUQ founded a Sufism-based organization “Minhaj-ul-Quran
    International” in October 1981 and spent the next decade expanding it
    nationally and internationally. The goal of the organization is fairly
    broad, namely to promote religious moderation, effective and sound
    education, inter-faith dialogue and harmony, and a moderate
    interpretation of Islam employing methods of Sufism. Over the past 30
    years, the organization has reportedly expanded to over 90 countries.
    During the March 2011 session the United Nations Economic and Social
    Council granted special consultative status to Qadri’s “Minhaj-ul-Quran
    International” perhaps because it is working in the fields of welfare,
    human rights and education and has established over 600 institutions
    where religion and modern sciences are taught in parallel. The product
    of these institutions has scored high grades in international
    universities, which is no mean achievement. The students have become
    ambassadors of goodwill promoting a moderate and non-extremist vision of
    Islam, the establishment of good
    relations and understanding between communities and religions. TUQ has
    also founded The Minhaj University of which he is the head of the Board
    of Governors, as well as an international relief charity, Minhaj Welfare
    Foundation, which has been at the forefront of relief and
    rehabilitation operations, whenever a calamity has struck Pakistan or
    elsewhere in the world.
    TUQ has dabbled with politics in the past too. On May 25, 1989, he
    founded a political party: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), which aims to
    introduce the culture of true democracy, economic stability, improve the
    state of human rights, justice and the women’s role in Pakistan. The
    PAT also aims to remove corruption from Pakistani politics. In 1990, he
    participated in the national election. From 1989 to 1993, TUQ
    continuously worked as an opposition leader. While he was
    elected as an MNA in 2002, but on 29 November 2004, TUQ announced his
    resignation as MNA and left for Canada, where he has been devoting time
    to managing the network of institutions and delivering religious
    lectures on moderation.
    TUQ is an outstanding business manager too and the successful
    administration of his over 700 institutions bear testimonial to that. In
    January 2011, he addressed the World Economic Forum.
    On 2 March 2010, Qadri issued a 600-page Fatwa on Terrorism, which is
    an “absolute” scholarly refutation of all terrorism without “any
    excuses or pretexts”, stating that “Terrorism is terrorism, violence is
    violence and it has no place in Islamic teaching and no justification
    can be provided for it.” Since then, he has devoted much effort and time
    in devising ways and means of tackling terrorism, addressing
    international forums, lecturing at the media and
    organizing anti-terrorism meets have been lauded internationally
    Congress Government in Maharashtra Panders to Muslim Vote Bank By Communalising Varsity Text Book
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    Varsity book dubbed communal
    Says Army, Police Unfair To Minorities
    Nitin Yeshwantrao & Hemali Chhapia TNN
    Thane: A Foundation Course-II book aimed at educating undergraduate students, studying under the University of Mumbai, about human rights violations and wrongdoings faced by minorities in India has content that critics have termed as controversial and communally provocative.
    Professor Michael Vaz, who penned the textbook, has distanced himself from the controversial content, which boldly draws inferences based on inadequate research and opinionated references while declaring that the police and Army are unfair and prejudiced when dealing with minorities.
    “Police’s attitude towards minorities is biased. First they are Hindus then police, first they are Hindu then army men,” the author quotes a littleknown rights activist, Suresh Khairnar, as saying, without mentioning the context of the statement. The statement follows a paragraph in which human rights violations are alleged to have been committed in coastal Karnataka.
    Vaz, who is associated with Mithibai College, Vile Parle, rained criticism on Congress as well as BJP governments, accusing them of “failing to protect minorities and targeting the Muslims”. This is said without attribution to any political commentator, research scholar or news reports.
    “The violation of human rights of minorities are (sic) on increase in the Congress-ruled Andhra Pradesh. Muslims were arrested in blast cases, but after exposure of illegal detention, they were made accused in other cases, and for lack of evidence, they were acquitted,” the textbook states.
    The provocative narration, in the chapter ‘Human Rights Violations and Redressal’, adds, “Muslims youths are being killed in encounters, hundreds of innocents have been arrested in terror blasts, Christians have faced and still facing hostile situations in Orissa and Karnataka and now Muslims are being targeted in the lone BJP-ruled southern state (sic).” The book specifically accuses the Congressruled regimes in AP and Maharashtra for the deterioration of law and order there.
    FC, as the subject is referred to in collegian lingo, is a compulsory subject for undergraduate classes across all streams, touching on issues of human rights violations, environment, science and technology, skills to improve interpersonal communication and other topics. The book, which offers a synopsis on the chapters, is said to be popular and widely referred to by rote-learning collegians.
    BJP general secretary from Navi Mumbai, Santosh Pachlag, hit out against the author for the controversial content. “This cannot be called a textbook. It is hate literature, which promotes communal tension and is heavily biased against one community.”
    Vaz, when contacted by TOI, said that he did not remember the exact contents of the textbook and promptly disowned the controversial content. “It is definitely not my opinion or writing,” he said. The professor said that he may have “picked up this matter from the internet and may have forgotten to attribute it to a source”. “I am a person with an open mind. I will go through this text and either mention the source or delete the content,” he added. CONTROVERSIAL CONTENT
    Excerpts from the Foundation Course-II book for undergraduate students on human rights violations and misdemeanours faced by minorities in India. The quotes are either attributed to little-known activists and/or are unsubstantiated and context-less
    By extension, how, meat eating, with its accompanying, killing( ritual included), cooking, disposal of offal and then boast of being meat eaters has contributed towards violent nature?? open for discussion, does it contribute or does it not?
    You are totally mistaken about Qudri. He is a stooge of the military. They brought him from Canada to pave the way for a military takeover.
    You must have heard about the notorious “”blasphemy law” of Pakistan. He is the author/pusher of that. He is not a moderate, although in this week’s incarnation he projected himself as an ultra moderate leader. He is fooling the Pakistanis just like all the others before him.
    Zardari, with all his financial wrong doings of the past, actually is the best for Pakistan if the army gave him room to move. He has a genuine desire to take Pakistan to progress; he is the only Pakistani leader who publicly expressed the futility of animosity and wars. Unfortunately, his wings are clipped by the military.
    Qudri money source is the military. He will give a seal of approval to military that has been tarnished by the Bin Laden episode.
    For over seven years he preached and propagated “the concept of liberal
    *PRESS RELEASE*
    The Supreme Court today issued notice to the Gujarat government
    and stayed Magistrate Ganatra’ s order dated 27.11.2013 closing Zakia
    Jafri’s right to file a Protest Petition. Smt Zakia Jafri had, on 8.6.2006
    filed a complaint alleging a sinister and wide level conspiracy to allow
    violence, deliberately subvert the strict directions to maintain order that
    led to the loss of over 2,500 minority lives. Chief Minister Narendra Modi,
    cabinet colleagues, senior IPS and IAS officers are among the 61 accused in
    this complaint. The Supreme Court had ordered investigation into the
    allegations on 27.4.2009 in the special leave petition filed by Smt Jafri
    and the Citizens for Justice and Peace. (SLP 1088/2008) Finally on
    12.9.2011 the Supreme Court had directed that the matter be placed for
    consideration before a Magistrate under Section 173(2) and all documents
    related to the investigation be provided to the complainant.
    We are praying for the right to get access to all investigations reports
    under Section 173(8) of the CRPC. Ever since the matter came up before the
    Magistrate in Ahmedabad, the SIT has been resisting making any documents
    available. An earlier Magistrate Bhatt (later transferred) granted Smt
    Jafri documents by an order dated 10.4.2012. Even after that, the SIT has
    been doggedly trying to conceal those further investigation reports that
    were submitted before the Supreme Court by Shri Malhotra and Shri Raghavan
    between May 2010 and July 2011 as they take a very different view from the
    Final Closure Report submitted by Himanshu Shukla on 8.2.2012. In his two
    reports to the Supreme Court, Amicus Curiae Shri Raju Ramachandran had come
    to the conclusion that there was sufficient material to prosecute chief
    minister Narendra Modi and at least two senior policemen.
    The next date for Zakia Jafri’s special leave petition is 7th February
    2013. The CJP is assisting her legally in the case. This Special Leave
    Petition filed by Smt Jafri assisted by Citizens for Justice and Peace was
    specifically filed to get clarity on the Order of the Supreme Court that
    the SIT came misinterpreting before the Magistrate (SLP 8989/2012). This
    first came up for hearing on December 3, 2012. On December 10 last year the
    SC had asked Chairman SIT RK Raghavan to answer how previous statements of
    accused collected during investigation had not been made available to the
    complainant. Thereafter on December 15, 2012 about 1500 pages of documents
    were made available.
    Now the pending issue in the matter remains the further investigation
    reports filed by SIT. The Supreme Court has also asked Amicus Curiae Shri
    Raju Ramachandran to assist the court in the matter.
    Senior advocates Kamini Jaiswal and Sanjay Parikh appeared for Smt Jafri
    and CJP assisted by Ms. Aparna Bhat and Mr. Ramesh Pukhrambam. Advocate
    Mihir Desai has also been appearing in this matter.
    This is another farce, another illusionery “progress”, along with other giveaway programs to keep them in permanent backwardness. Did Christians of Kerala (as well as Muslims here) achieve excellence because of sepaarte reserved universities? Jains? Sikhs?
    Separation means not equal.
    We are perpetuating the differences; all the religion/caste etc based reservations were supposed to have been discontinued in a few decades as per the original framers of the constitution.
    Now naming it Tipu is an insult to injury. Granted , Tipu paid for temples in Karnataka; however, during his Malabar “padayottam” (rapid war), he destroyed the places of worship (both Hindu and Christian) from Palghat to Mangalore, forcefully converted people, and took away property to give to Muslim locals.
    In fact he was the first and only King in India to round up Catholics , imprison them and try converting forcefully. Around 10,000 were rounded up, with many of them brutalized in his Srirangapatinam jail. The ancient churches of Managlore have preserved the damages Tipu inflicted on the structures.
    FYI, Kozhikode (Calicut) was briefly named Islamabad by him.
    Forcible conversion and inducement conversion is what is going to cause real friction in the future for India. The Forensic scientist in me knows that all sort of bull shit rhetoric like the nonsense Engrich spouts is used to convert people to Islam.
    I am against conversions; however in a free market, state should not stand in the way if people want to convert based on inducements. A downtrodden person makes economic choices. Now, I would say Hindu organizations (if there are — which is another issue altogether) should provide education/employment etc benefits that Muslim or Christian organizations may be providing, and compete in service offerings, that way the person will decide not to convert.
    As you know, Kerala has many Christians; a large majority traces their roots thousands of years ago (Christianity in Kerala is as old as Jesus Christ Himself) to prominent Hindu “tharwads” (ancestral homes). The Travancore King had a rule that only educated (whatever was the definition of education in those days) people can choose to convert; because they are doing that based on their own deliberations and their own will after careful introspection; and not based on any material inducements/benefits. It does make a lot of sense..
    The right, and wrong, way to deal with Pakistan
    http://blogs.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/headon/entry/the-right-and-wrong-way-to-deal-with-pakistan
    Excerpts
    Myth 1: Pakistan’s constant refrain that it is “also” a victim of terrorism and has lost 40,000 lives to militancy is an old red herring. Pakistan’s “victimhood” is self-inflicted. India’s is Pakistan-inflicted.
    Myth 2: India’s peace lobby is well-intentioned but misunderstands the Pakistani mindset. Pakistani liberals, civil society and media are often as hawkish on India as the army. The army kills Indians with jihadi tactics. Pakistani liberals doctor the agenda to suit Pakistan’s fraudulent narrative of victimhood-equivalence with India. Indian liberals fall for this hook, line and sinker.
    Myth 3: Pakistan’s army – under pressure from internal conflicts – now genuinely wants peace with India. Quite the contrary. Hostility to India is the army’s raison d’etre. Take that away and you take away the army’s importance in Pakistan. Once that goes, so will the billions of dollars that it extorts from the US to police its self-created “dangerous neighbourhood” overflowing with jihadis whom it funds, ironically, with American dollars.
    Experts believe that with its current Nuclear arsenal and delivery rockets, India can totally annihilate Pakistan, whereas Pakistan can only destroy much of the Aryan Civilisation in glorious Bharat.
    Once the Nuclear dust would have settled, the surviving part of India, would once again be dominated by the Dravidians.
    Hindi would have survived, but Urdu would have disappeared from this earth and none too soon. The threat of Islamisation would have been
    THANKFUL RAHUL VOWS TO TRANSFORM NATION…..TIMES OF INDIA
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    Wow! What a “tall” claim!!!!!!!!!!
    Rahul has said what five generational dynasts of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty have not said.
    This is enough to prove the popular image of Rahul Gandhi as a man without the least idea about what transformation means in the Indian context.
    In the picture, Man Mohan Singh is telling the prince: Now that you are the boss, Now onwards, I will happily prostrate before you.
    Will Rahul be able to give a free forall press now?
    The UPA clown price gives dictation to the servile media the way Niira radia did. Sab paisa ka khel hai.
    But there is a difference here. Rahul does not speak directly but some head chamcha like Manish golibaz tewari or some other joker conveys his thoughts to the media which then behaves like schoolgirls giggling and admiring as if they met Sharukh Khan.
    Thoughts of rahul baba will still be written by fawning dunces of the media… without the clown having actually NEVER met them.
    The victorious UAE football
    team
    Ismail Al Hammadi’s extra-time goal not only bagged the UAE a second Gulf Cup
    of Nations title in six years, it has also netted the young squad a Dhs87
    million fortune
    The stars returned on Saturday to a hero’s welcome in
    the UAE following Friday’s fantastic 2-1 victory over Iraq in the final at the
    Bahrain National Stadium in Riffa.
    Alongside the plaudits, they have
    been rewarded with riches as HH Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum, wife of the Ruler of
    Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, presented them with a jackpot
    of Dhs25 million for their footballing feats.
    And Sheikh Rashid and
    Sheikh Saeed, sons of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of
    Dubai and the UAE Minister of Finance, are granting Mahdi Ali’s men a further
    Dhs12 million.
    The stars were also lavished with praise by UAE President
    HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan yesterday. He also announced a grant of
    Dhs50 million for the team.
    Sheikh Khalifa greeted them at Al Rawdha
    Palace in Al Ain, national news agency WAM reported. He told the champions: “The
    achievement made by the sons of the UAE swept the country with joy.”
    Sheikh
    Khalifa (pictured with the team) said the win reflected well on the entire
    nation.
    “Achievements cannot be made out of nothing,” he said. “Rather,
    they are made through diligent work, patience and self-belief and, above all,
    through love to the country, as we all walk the same path and seek to make our
    state and its pride the ultimate and highest goal.”
    Fans on Twitter
    yesterday were divided on the windfall.
    @Sheikhspeer wrote: “What about
    donating this to promote sports amongst nationals?” But @h4hala posted: “Worth
    every fils… absolutely. This is 100 per cent MADE IN UAE. Victory by an
    exceptional Dream Team.”
    Meanwhile, one firm is to laud the UAE’s
    achievement with the latest Apple gadget dedicated to the win. One hundred gold
    iPhones will be struck by Royal Collection, with the first 30 set aside for the
    squad if they want to buy them. The Dhs20,000 handsets feature the team logo and
    players’ names.
    Are you more thrilled that Muslim team of UAE won a cup because you never posted your delight when India won a world cup.
    This is the mentality which gives a bad name to Muslims that they see everything as a Muslim victory or loss and never as an Indian victory. Few Muslims follow this bad thought process now. But they manage to tar other Muslims with this.
    So even if Enrich is a descendent somehwere in the line of Arabs… his mothers side has to be Indian. SO 50% Indian to start from and for the next 700 years his ancestors would have been Indian , decimating the Arab component of blood to 1% !! So even if he is 98% Indian and only 1 % Arab… it is this slavish pride in that Arab blood which is funny!
    Wisdom on women from a Rashtriya Sevika Sangh camp
    Neha Dixit
    Last fortnight saw two debuts: One, the nation for the first time thronged the
    streets on the issue of gender. Two, RSS Supremo Mohan Bhagwat’s moment of epiphany was well timed, like never before, for the nation to reflect upon his
    misogyny and sexism. Bhagwat, within a span of three days, came up with two
    significant statements: a rapist prefers ‘Indian’ women over ‘Bharatiya’ women
    and a woman must satisfy her husband for food, shelter and protection. The
    Rashtra Sevika Samiti, the RSS’s women wing, with 55,000 shakhas all over the country, not just ascribe to the above tenets but also holds camps and
    indoctrinates thousands of girls-toddlers, adolescents and old- to propagate
    the idea of a ‘culturally sanitised’ Hindu rashtra and the patriarchal roles it
    offers women to conform.
    REPLY TO ‘FAKE NEWS’ SPREAD BY FAKE RAVI, THE ASLI ISLAMIC JIHADI FUNDOO:
    The RSS has lodged a complaint against nine private news channels for allegedly distorting and airing the January 5 speech of its chief Mohan Bhagwat, in which he spoke about the institution of marriage.
    The complaint was filed with he National Broadcasting Standards Authority (NBSA), a copy of which is available with Express.
    The RSS chief had, in his speech at Indore, clearly pointed out that marriage in Bharat was sacrosanct and not a contract which could be revoked or severed at any time, according to the choice of the husband or wife, as the case may be.
    However, the channels ran the news, saying that Bhagwat had said that the marriage in India was a contract, which he did not say at all.
    The channels wrongly quoted Bhagwat, as having said that ‘women were bound by social contract to look after her husband’ or ‘women were meant to do household chores’ or ‘wife was bound to look after home’ or ‘women should limit themselves to household chores’ or ‘women bound to look after husband’. These comments were not part of the speech and the original transcript has been attached, the complaint stated.
    It further added that the broadcaster mischievously twisted the facts and the news reports were highly defamatory. News anchors made many judgemental comments on the speech. This has been done to tarnish the image of swayamswaks and the RSS, when the channels could have refrained from making false, erroneous reporting.
    The complaint also said that the feelings of crores of swayamsewaks were hurt, as channels rushed to insensible conclusion which was aired across the country and the world at large.
    The channels, in a deliberate attempt, maliciously misquoted him and broadcast the programme with an entirely opposite view and certainly with a bad taste, the complaint stated.
    Hence, the guidelines of December 13, 2012, on potentially defamatory content, have been deliberately violated by the channels.
    In addition, the distortion in broadcast also constitutes violation of Section 499 of IPC, for defamation of collection of people, it added.
    Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Sunday accused BJP
    “We will have to think about it seriously and will have to remain alert,” he said at the AICC meeting here.
    GOPI………………………..Kozhikode: Muslims have played a very important part in the freedom
    struggle of the country. Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Ali brothers, Khan
    Abdul Ghaffar Khan are a few examples. Our school syllabi, both state
    and central, cover the freedom struggle. But how many Muslim freedom
    fighters find their place in the history text books, which are the first
    source of information for the growing generation about our past?
    “The number of Muslim freedom fighters is very less in our history
    text books,” said K Kunhali, principal and teacher of history,
    Hidayathul Muslimeen Yatheemkhana Higher Secondary School, Manjeri, in
    Malappuram district. “Only Abul Kalam Azad is given at least a mention
    in our books. Even Sir Sayyid Ahmed Khan is presented as pro-British and
    communalist. Books portray Muhammed Ali Jinnah as the only reason for
    the partition of the country. So students have only such an idea about
    our past.”
    Vakkom Muhammed Abdul Khadir Moulavi
    Mr Kunhali says this with his experience as the teacher of history
    for years. He also talked about the portrayal of Muslim freedom fighters
    in the text books in Kerala. Muhammed Abdurahman found only mention in
    our textbooks but more importance was given to K Kelappan. Even though
    Variyankunnath Kunhahammed Haji and Ali Musliyar fought against the
    British and captured power, their struggle for independence has no much
    space in our books. They were staunch suppoerters of the Congress and
    wore qadar (khadi). They captured power and ruled some parts of Malabar
    for about six months. At last the British caught and executed them. But
    this glorious age in history can be known only from books other than
    text books. And this happens at a time when even Pazhassi Raja and
    Veluthampi Dalawa are adored by text books. Both had sided with the
    British in the beginning, but turned against them only when the British
    sidelined their interests.
    Of course the books do mention Maulana Azad and Khan Abdul Ghaffar
    Khan. But can one understand from the books that Azad was the president
    of the Congress at the most crucial age of the Second World War? That
    Azad was the president when the Congress passed the Quit India
    resolution? That Azad had actually chalked out a plan so as to avoid the
    partition of the country, which even the Muslim League accepted?
    “The books of yore covered the role of Muslims in the freedom
    struggle,” said Abdul Ali of Manjeri in Malappuarm. In the late 1950s
    and early 1960s, books mentioned the Ali brothers, Dr MA Ansari, Hakim
    Ajamal Khan, Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan and Hazrath Mohani among other
    leaders of the freedom struggle. The Jamiat Ulema-I-Hind too was
    mentioned, though nothing was given in detail. Muhammed Abdurahman Sahib
    was the lone Muslim from Kerala who found a place in text books.” Abdul
    Jaleel of Malappuram also recollects that he had not studied about the
    revolt of 1921 in text book.
    The struggle for freedom had begun at a very early age in Kerala, the
    state being the first to be entered by the Europeans. Veliyankode Umar
    Qadi began the first civil disobedience movement in the 17th century. He
    assembled people through his various works and speeches. He educated
    the Muslims of their religious duty to fight against oppressors. Vakkom
    Abdul Qader Moulvi began a newspaper – ‘Swadeshabhimani’. He gave total
    journalistic freedom for his editor who later became more famous than
    him. The revolt of 1921 took place at a time when the whole Muslim world
    was fighting for the restoration of khilafath. Gandhiji and Ali
    brothers began it in the country as the Khilafath movement. The movement
    took the shape of an open revolt in Malabar where Muslims and Hindus
    fought together against the British Raj.
    However, studies are going on in the field. The revolt of 1921 is
    again subject to study by many scholars. One of the reasons for the
    revolt not to find a place in books of the past could be that details
    about it were present only in the Arabic-Malayalam script. Nowadays when
    the Arabic- Malayalam script has given way to Malayalm, Muslims too
    learn Malayalam. So there is an increased awareness, but still there is a
    need to include at least the names of Muslim freedom fighters in text
    books so that at least the coming up generation may realize that Muslims
    too had fought for the country. They could understand that Muslims were
    not traitors but real patriots. Distorting history may suit certain
    people, but isn’t it better to learn facts as such?
    [Reply]
    Anonymous Reply:
    ram – all freedom fighters should be honoured and recognized; we cannot have a “qouota” system like today’s reservations Congress is thriving on. Many Muslims did actively participate; but an attempt at balancing the numbers – that if there are xx Hindus or Christians, then there should be YY Muslim freedom fighters – will be futile, because you will never find a proportional number. Coming totheKerala Scenario — many of the things you mentioned are true; and as far as I know, all the key muslim leaders in the independence movement are respected and recognized. Vakkom AbduRahiman Maulavi was a devoted son of the country , a successful businessman from the then Travancore side; he started a newspaper “swadeshabhimani ” (proud of ones country). Ramakrishna Pillai, who was its editor , later known as Swedashabhimani Ramakrishan Pillai, was exiled by the British charging subversion, and the newspaper was shut down by the British. mohamed AbduRahiman Saheb was another fiery leader; however, he died (there is a rumour that another section of Muslims, the then anti-India Muslim League people poisoned him) young in 1945. Kelapapn was his contemporary, but Kelapapn lived through late 190s, and died at a very advanced age (80 or so). Kelappan later got disallusioned by congress; joined the Vinobha Bhave movement about land distribution. History books give wider coverage for Kelapapn because he was in the national/political sphere for almost 7 decades, whereas AbduRahimn was there only 3 decades. Ali Musaliyar was not a freedonm fighter; but an opportunist who started the Mopal rebellion (the so aclled 1921 Khilafet aftrmath), the darkest phase in modern kerala history. He sawed the seeds of communal hatred in Malabar.
    My Mother Cried After I Became Cong VP: Rahul
    http://news.outlookindia.com/items.aspx?artid=787521
    “My mother came to my room and cried… Because she understands that power is poison,” Rahul Gandhi said today in a highly emotional speech after taking over the new mantle.
    Striking a personal note, the 42-year-old leader in his maiden address as party Vice President, recalled the moments when his mother and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi walked into his room last night.
    “Last night each one of you congratulated me. My mother came to my room and she sat with me and she cried… Because she understands that power so many people seek is actually a poison,” Rahul said at the AICC session here.
    He recalled the time his grandmother and the then Prime Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated in 1984 by security guards with whom he used to play badminton as “friends” and how his father Rajiv Gandhi, who was himself “broken inside”, showed a “glimmer of hope” to the people.
    The young leader received a standing ovation by the audience which included Sonia and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh when he said “We should not chase power, only use it to empower others.”
    BJP President Selection Process – Arun Jaitley Explains!!
    BJP today reacted to Rahul Gandhi’s appointment as the Congress Vice
    President by declaring that under strong arm tactics exerted by the Mother organisation Yaar Yess Yess, the lack lustre, talent less, corrupt man Nitin Gadkari is being thrusted down the thorats of acute nationalists, without any consultations, raising questions over Gardkari’s potential, saying it has to be seen whether the nation accepts him as a leader, on the second time of asking, on the basis of “Sangh family insistance”.
    “The world’s largest democracy cannot be put to risk by risking ourselves
    in the hands of those whose potential failed to precipitate into any real leadership for the last four years. We in the BJP do not know why a use less ghit is being given second term and is being hoisted upon us, on whose opinion was this decision taken, we do not know, what his policy is beyond HINDUFATWADI we do not know,,” BJP leader Arun Jaitely told a gathering in BangLahore.
    Without naming Gandkarii, he said that BJP’s leaders are selected in Nagpur on basis of their unquestioning obedience to the Yaar Yess Yess leadership and totally on the basis of “sangh family inheritance”.
    “The most obedient to Mr Bhagwant among us will become the first amongst equal Brahmins. He will not be selected on the (basis of) leadership qualities or even slimness. He will be hoisted upon us only on the basis of his proven lack of chrisma and the unique ability to eat 24 Samosa’s in one sitting,” Jaitley said.
    BJP spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was suffering from candida albicans of criticism.
    I am not sure if Rahul will aim for PMship. The Gandhi family has learnt the art of driving from the back-seat, just like RSS does.
    My feeling is that if Modi was chosen as a PM candidate by the BJP, then Congress would bring forward a new young development focus candidate, for example Sachin Pilot.
    News has just come from an ‘inside source’ situated at an undisclosed door number on Delhi’s Janpath, that there is panic, gladness, elation and “i-told-you-so’s in the closed confines of the P and Weepy of the GOP’s residence.
    The elation and I -told-you-so’s are from the news flooding in from all corners of the congress fiefdom that scenes of uncontrolled weeping and breast beating are taking place, in abject imitation of Sonia Gandhi shedding tears at her son becoming WEEPY of the party of which she is the P.
    There is also confusion in the minds of the top two as to why congressmen are weeping all over the country.
    One congressman, also a general secretary of the congress party, said he wanted to cry his heart out-and loudly too- the last time itself, when Sonia Gandhi cried when she was showed photos of dead terrorists of Batla terror attack, but was stopped from crying by his colleagues, saying that since it is a terror issue, others crying may reduce the value and impact of the mataji crying.
    “Pakistan is too serious a problem to be left to our TV Anchors”
    TJS George on Pakistan, our TV Anchors and our stupid politicians:
    Pakistan is in deep trouble. So it is pushing India into deep
    trouble. Our own professional patriots are pushing India into deeper
    trouble. The great television anchors would love nothing more than a
    full-fledged war, now, at this very moment, so that their ratings would
    go up. Some of our politicians too want their ratings to rise. A senior
    leader said that for one soldier’s head that Pakistan cut off, we must
    cut off 10 Pakistani soldiers’ heads. This is how patriotism makes
    villains of us all.
    Internal trouble in Pakistan has been a
    perennial thing. The only difference this time is that it has come in
    battalions. The killing of Shias in Baluchistan and even Karachi is
    going on systematically; even after a Sunni extremist group claimed
    responsibility, the army has shown no interest in taking action. The
    Supreme Court orders the arrest of the country’s prime minister.
    Canada-returned scholar Mohammed Qadri organises a million-men march and
    sets deadlines for the government to abolish itself.
    Bargains
    must be taking place behind the scenes at various levels. So, strange
    things are followed by stranger things. The Supreme Court’s order for
    the prime minister’s arrest was defied and nothing happened. Qadri’s
    deadlines passed and nothing happened. Qadri’s fire-breathing style
    itself changed suddenly as rumours rose about the government’s plans to
    arrest him for violating this law and that. As always, happenings of
    this kind have raised an old question: What is the army up to?
    The
    Punjabi-dominated army has never been happy with the Sindhi-dominated
    Pakistan People’s Party currently in power. The PPP’s stock went down
    when Asif Ali Zardari became its boss and thus the president of the
    country. Zardari has been a synonym for corruption in Pakistan. His
    recent crowning of son Bilawal as successor must have riled the army.
    There would be nothing surprising if the army, under an ambitious
    hardliner like General Kayani, decided that the time had come to get rid
    of the civilian government.
    From the army’s point of view, the
    timing was good. America is more anxious than ever to get out of
    Afghanistan and has come to realise that Pakistan can help make its exit
    smooth. The problems that had arisen over Bin Laden’s killing and the
    US drone attacks inside Pakistan have been brushed aside. Now America
    has restored its billion-dollar-a-year “coalition support funds” to
    Pakistan. Another billion is given in the name of counter-insurgency
    support. Pakistan’s requests for economic assistance from IMF and for
    other forms of general support will surely find favourable attention in
    Washington from now on.
    This is the area India should have focused
    on. The Manmohan Singh government has gone out of its way to curry
    favour with America.
    Indian public opinion against Delhi’s
    dependency attitude to Washington cut no ice. If we bow to US pressure
    on FDI and agriculture policies and so on while America provides muscle
    and money to Pakistani military knowing that they will be used against
    India, it reflects poorly on the Indian government’s understanding of
    its responsibilities.
    When Pakistan cut off an Indian soldier’s
    head, our aim cannot be to cut off Pakistani heads. We should try to cut
    off the misplaced support Pakistan gets from other countries. That is
    why experts have been counselling that we should keep the diplomatic
    channels open even with Pakistan while we try to convince the US and
    Western countries that Pakistan’s war-and-terror machine is a threat to
    their interests as well. There is scope for India to convey this message
    to China, too. Islamist extremists based in Pakistan and supported by
    Pakistani extremists are actively involved in the anti-government terror
    strikes in China’s Sinkiang province.
    As of now, Pakistan seems
    to be smarter in international diplomacy. It gets backing from China and
    the US even as it plays one against the other. Can’t our diplomatic
    community do better? Can’t our intelligence community be told to look
    into the area of covert activities? Certainly they can if the political
    leadership is a bit wiser. The only thing we cannot do is to make our
    television anchors shut up. What a pity.
    Pakistan army which was always held in high esteem is losing their respect in the eyes of Pakistanis. Above link provides reasons for that.
    War with India will get them the full backing from the Pakstan public. Recent incident of beheading of Indian soldiers is a clear indication that Pakistan army wants to divert the attention of the public which has started doubting the intentions of Pakistan army.
    India has to use all her diplomatic powers to convince whole world about the nefarious activities of Pakistan so that they can be pressured by world body to stop those harm India activities. War would be dissastrous and should be avoided and it should only be the last resort.
    As Mr. George has written, we need a wiser political leadership.
    OK. So, Aramco was started in 50s or so. Rate of oil was 7 dollars per barrel. come 70s, rate of oil was 50-60 dollars per barrel. Saudi had not dreamt this kind of wealth in their wildest dream. So, americans, explore( billions of dollars expense, set up rigs, billions of dollars, train personnel, make their arreangement- billions of dollars). now, having invested so much, they will make profit. this is business. if saudi had enough trained man power, no need for americans to go there. they will just purchase Saudi oil in International market. period. when, I am trying to educate you, it is this GYAN.     I just read this in the book I am reading.
    Most voters take politics seriously, more so than politicians, just as football ball fans take the game seriously, more so than the players. Players and politician understand that it’s just a game. You win some, you lose some, but goal is to survive to play next game or compete in the next election. But voters seem to think that politicians could do good for the society/state/country.
    Do not know whether to laugh or cry on Shinde’s statement about BJP conducting terrorist camps.
    Or has the party and government become so moronic and stupid? I understand when the party spokesperson like Diryodhan Singh makes those stupid statements; but the Home Minister?
    And look at the background on current events. The elder Owaisi openly exhorted for /warned about “third” Jehadi movement in the halls of parliament – the ruling party did not utter a word against that. The younger Owaisi openly thretened to kill a leader, openly ridiculed the idol worshippinga nd other practices of the majority community; got away with it until the public started pressurizing.
    And who are these Owaisis and what about their political party Majlis E Itehudal Musselmeen (MIM) ? Razarkars were the pro Pakistan militias who fought to annexe Hyderabad and Telengana to Pakistan. MIM was their political party. Razarkars started killing Hindus when they rebelled under Ram Thirtha aganst the annexation movement. Sardar Patel ordered the “operation Polo” that defeated the Razarkars and ended the pro pakistan annexation movement. (Nehru was pissed off with the operation, he wanted to play it like Kashmir — Patel used his constitutional authority as acting PM to send the army when Nehru was on his usual world building trip overseas)
    MIM was banned ,, its chief Quasim Rizvi put in jail (he later wanted to settle in PAkistan, govt allowed that!)… what happened in the intervening years from then to now?
    Some of the Muslims in Hyderabad under the leadership of Owaisis’ grandfather resurrected the party under the same name (that is called audacity!) – our eunuch government did not raise any objection. They did not change their policies except do not advocate joining Pakistan (although spreading the longing for separation!) They were an ally of Congress in elections until recently. Now, they see a better opportunity in aligning with Jagan Reddy, a worser crook than Congress. Reddy wouldn’t blink an eye if he can make money in any transaction, be it selling the state’s lands or the state itself. .
    years after getting independence in 1947 India is almost ruled by Hindu
    rulers, but there is no single major incident where Muslims re-converted
    back to Hinduism and still Muslims become strong to stick with Islam
    and don’t want return in Hinduism fold? Why because of Hinduism is a
    falsely framed Religion by Aryans to dominate native (SC, ST & BC’s)
    and due to the atrocities of upper caste Aryans on lower caste Native
    Indians only provocated them to convert to Muslims and still Hinduis is
    full of caste system with animal Gods? where as Islam guides human
    beings to worship only one universal God/ creator, whos is controlling
    whole universe, who is neither having shape, size colour or Male or
    Male, That is omnipotent, so that it is the time for Hindus to open the
    closed eyes and understand what Islam is really teaching? And then
    decide either to convert to Islam or not? However Islam is the fastest
    growing religion in the world and within coming 100 years many European
    countries will be Muslim Majority, even India also become Islamic
    country- Inshallah
    Hindu ‘Saffron’ Terror Camps Breeding Terrorists – Indian Home Minister Shinde confesses
    ‘Samjhota, Makkah Masjid, Malegon Blasts were carried out by BJP and RSS; blamed on Muslims’
    Sushil Kumar Shinde, India’s Home Minister
    In a ground-breaking confession, India’s home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde has exposed
    the nexus between BJP and the RSS for breeding ‘Hindu terrorism’, a
    charge which has raged a storm from hard line Hindus on Indian
    mainstream and social media.
    Speaking during Congress’s Chintar Shivir at Jaipur, Shinde said: “We have reports that RSS, BJP camps are promoting Hindu terror in the country.”
    He alleged that RSS was behind Samjhauta, Mecca Masjid and Malegaon blasts.
    “Reports
    have come during investigation that BJP and RSS conduct terror training
    camps to spread terrorism; Bombs were planted in Samjhauta express,
    Mecca Masjid and also a blast was carried out in Malegaon.”
    Considering this a serious security threat, Shinde further said,
    “We will have to think about it seriously and will have to remain alert,”
    Remaining steadfast on his stance Shinde defended his allegation by saying, “This has come so many times in the papers… It is not a new thing that I have said today.”
    Relating this to notorious ‘Saffron Terror’ often related to fundamental Hindu Right Wing groups which have previously been alleged for terrorism he said,
    “This
    is saffron terrorism that I have talked about. It is the same thing and
    nothing new. It has come in the media several times,” the home minister
    said.
    The
    Home Minister of India, P. Chidambaram urged Indians to beware of
    “Saffron terror” on August 25, 2010 at a meeting of state police chiefs
    in New Delhi, first time the word was officially used.
    Charging
    Congress with having a “destructive mindset which was reflected in the
    home minister’s statement”, BJP said it was “very objectionable”. “It is
    not only unacceptable but dangerous also,” party spokesman Mukhtar
    Abbas Naqvi said.
    “There
    cannot be anything worse that the country’s home minister giving such
    an objectionable statement to disrupt peace and harmony of the country,”
    Naqvi told reporters in Delhi.
    Terming
    RSS as a “nationalist organisation”, the BJP leader said, “Sonia Gandhi
    should apologise. Rahul Gandhi and home minister should also apologise,
    otherwise there will be serious consequences. This is not accepted.
    Such baseless things when said by home minister amounts to giving clean
    chit to real terrorists.”
    “Sometimes
    I feel that Congress has become a group of cowards (kayaron ki jamaat).
    I am terming Congress as a group of cowards because repeated terror
    strikes are happening in the country, terrorists are mushrooming here.
    “They abolished the tool to fight terrorism,” he said in an apparent reference to scrapping of POTA.
    Attacking
    the home minister, RSS spokesman Ram Madhav described his statement as
    “highly irresponsible” and said he had made the remarks only to please
    his party bosses.
    “If
    a Congress leader had said something like this it wouldn’t have
    mattered that much, but if the home minister of the country is saying
    something like this, it is highly irresponsible. This is all about
    playing votebank politics,” he said. : Union home minister Sushilkumar
    Shinde on Sunday sparked a major political controversy saying RSS and BJP were promoting Hindu terror.
    A
    storm is also raging at this brazen statement that has removed the lid
    from an open-secret, Social Media is flooded by mixed reactions. Hindu
    extremists who use this medium for their activities are terming this an
    attack on Hinduism.
    BJP
    believes this statement will dent the communal harmony which is already
    on a fuming volcano after Owaisi Speech against Hindu Oppression and
    marginalization and how strongly Muslim can react if Police remains
    unbiased. Owaisi was arrested after his speech while 5 Muslims were shot
    dead by police in Dhule, Maharashtra whi led to riots injuring hundreds
    of people.
    BJP
    leaders and RSS extremists are vehemently condemning Shinde for remarks
    and are shocked that instead of blaming Pakistan for terrorism,
    congress is blaming Hindus.
    It
    has been time and again proved, in fact Pakistan’s interior minister
    Rehman Malik has also confessed of India involvement in Baluchistan and
    terrorism in Pakistan with complete state support. There are many proves
    lying with law enforcement agencies that point to Hindu Terrorists
    operating in Pakistan.
    Dozens
    of Pakistanis lost lives in Samjhota Express incident, will Pakistani
    Media and Government that is hell-bent for Aman Ki Asha open its eyes
    even after they have observed Indian public and Media reaction to the
    LOC incident. Apart from Gen.Musharraf who rightly treated Indian Media
    by urging them to expose Hindu terrorism and taking action against Hindu
    Terror organization, it is high time that every quarter of Pakistani
    society unites to expose Indian Terrorism in this region
