A story of surprise choices

The element of surprise wasn’t as much in elevations and new inductions in the council of ministers as in the allocation of portfolios in Sunday’s reshuffle.

The race for the external affairs ministry ended with Salman Khurshid bagging the prize charge for which he was tipped much before the ugly controversy over a trust he runs for the disabled. But new arrivals in the ministries of railways, human resource development, petroleum and law and justice were a trifle unexpected.

Pallam Raju’s elevation from MoS Defence to HRD minister in Cabinet rank could be explained in terms of the Congress’s anxiety to recoup the ground it has lost in Andhra. But Shashi Tharoor’s appointment as his junior was an incongruity, given the Kerala MP’s international profile and undisputed talent.

Another success story among junior ministers is that of Ashwani Kumar, the new minister for Law and Justice. The lawyer-politician has been elevated to cabinet rank from being a minister of state, unlike Ajay Maken and Dinsha Patel who earned the spurs after holding independent charge of their previous ministries.

Kumar’s articulate and reportedly has the Prime Minister’s ear. His stout defense of the government against the Opposition and the civil society over graft charges seems to have fetched him the double promotion.

Recognition of meritorious Gen-X leaders is evident as much in the elevation of Jyotiraditya Scindia, Sachin Pilot and Jitendra Singh as ministers of state with independent charge. They are counted among Rahul Gandhi’s peers on the government side.

Besides Veerappa Moily’s transfer to the Petroleum Ministry in place of Jaipal Reddy, Chandigarh MP Pawan Bansal’s transition from parliamentary affairs to railways has befuddled many, not because he lacks experience but the fact that he represents a union territory in the Lok Sabha.

Bansal’s predecessors in past years were from big states: West Bengal, Bihar, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. Maybe that’ll help him strike a balance in assessing and meeting the demands of various states, argued a Congress functionary. “He wouldn’t have the bias railways ministers from larger states have historically shown for their native provinces,” he said.

Be that as it may, Bansal’s junior colleagues in the ministry— K J Surya Prakash Reddy and Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary — are from Andhra and West Bengal. As first time ministers, they’d go the extra length to make an impact in their home states.

Much anticipated reorganization is much about nothing. I feel sad for Dr Singh; he is going down as Dhrutharashtra – he could have chosen the role of Drona or Dhrmaputra.. Had high hopes for him.

What ca you say about the transfer of a committed and capable guy like Jaipal Reddy? He was after Reliance, the kauravas wanted his flesh.

As Shenoy noted n the last blog, we should have taken a few from the Northeast, especially after the humiliation the country put on them a few months ago..at least should have created a cabinet rank for Northeast upliftment.

Taroor is articulate, a man of letters. I do not know whether it qualifes him to be a minister. Woudnt he be better of in Foreign Affairs with all his worldwide exerience.

Kerala, out of its 16 UPA MP contingent, has 8 ministers… Doesnt make any sense…

Time for Modi to clean up the mess. He can be the Arjuna; but he has to push it… Right now he is like Abhimanyu, encircled by foes (and friends)..He has to break the Chakravyuha

It seem that Jim Yardley and I are under instruction from Chacha Hafiz to write F I L T H about RAPE RAPE. Contrast that with Vijay Kumar Khaploathya and B. V. Shenoy of Bangbanglahore, who are under instructions from Mohan Bhagwat to commit them

A Village Rape Shatters a Family, and India’s Traditional Silence.

    October 28, 2012 6:02 pm

By JIMn YARDLEY (Him with a शवेत्म लिंगम, climbing up the hate India
Greasy Pole, just Like Manu Joseph)

DABRA, India — One after the other, the men raped her. They had dragged the girl into a darkened stone shelter at the edge of the fields, eight men, maybe more, reeking of pesticide and cheap whiskey. They assaulted her for nearly three hours. She was 16 years old.

When it was over, the men threatened to kill her if she told anyone, and for days the girl said nothing. Speaking out would have been difficult, anyway, given the hierarchy of caste. She was poor and a Dalit, the low-caste group once known as untouchables, while most of the attackers were from a higher caste that dominated land and power in the village.

It might have ended there, if not for the videos: her assailants had taken

cellphone videos as trophies, and the images began circulating among village

men until one was shown to the victim’s father, his family said. Distraught,

the father committed suicide on Sept. 18 by drinking pesticide. Infuriated,

Dalits demanded justice in the rape case.

“We thought, We lost my husband, we lost our honour,” the mother of the rape

victim said. “What is the point of remaining silent now?”…..

Is Reliance behind removal of Mr. Jaypal Reddy?

    [Reply]

    Anonymous Reply:

It’s a lot more complex than that.
In last 2 years RIL was expected to lie low and toe the Govt’s line of action even if it caused RIL enormous financial loss.
The Govt didn’t want to be seen as favouring RIL.

What happened was quite interesting and may be a real booster for future Corporate Governance in India.

The Ministry wanted to play by book. RIL also played by book.

It was a war of nerves. RIL stood on the side of its share holders rather than the Ministry.

    Why so ?

    There are many reasons.

    1) RIL truly believed it took a huge risk in getting into the exploration business and it believed it deserved a matching reward. Like always it brought in the best in class technologies and processes.

I believe Tharoor’s rehabiliation process is quite apt. I am glad he wasn’t given MEA charges on his reappointment. This would have created another unnecessary controversy as Krishna resigned just before the resuffle. Then Tharoor would have been seen as an agent of that change. I am sure he definitely would be back in MEA in future if UPA forms the next Govt.

I was a little disappointed with Jairam Ramesh not not being given prominence. He has the talent and he is developing right political attitude. He has ability to take issues head on and talent to support those endeavours.

I am glad Scindhia and Pilot are getting attention. The voters would soon identify with these young leaders.

~~ WHY SHOULD RELIANCE ASK FOR VARIABLE GAS PRICES? ~~~
    ————————————————————————————————

Knowing a little about this sector, I know the way circumstances were created so that ONGC was edged out of the gas fields and that was given to reliance.

Saudia. Iran, iraq and all OPEC countries buy back the oil and gas from the producer for domestic consumption at a fixed -price which has no link to international prices.

Does the price of gas procution double every six months and then reduce just because of the opec cartel? laughable!!

The Gas out there is a people of India resource.

Jai[al was right in ******** reliance.

    [Reply]

    Anonymous Reply:

First you got to understand the pricing arrangement.

    [Reply]

    vijay ! Reply:

A national resource is a national resource. The gas does not belong to Reliance or his him daddy.

In case a contract is negotiated thoroughly then the nation gets 80% of the gas/oil and the rest it can buy back. That was the standard practice with Chevron which was renegotiated by Iraq and Saudia.

The main point is the gas belongs to all of us. It cannot be an AMbani resource.

    [Reply]

    Anonymous Reply:

Thanks for explaining the variable pricing !

    bobby Reply:

KG basin gas contract was initially such that reliance was free to sell part of the gas at its price to the party it wanted. Rest of the Gas was to be govt of India property. But then reliance entered into agreement with Anil Ambani and NTPC which it did not want to honour. When Anil Ambani won the case in Bombay high court, Murli deora was approached and govt changed the policy so that all gas was to be sold to govt nominated parties and at govt decided price ( but reliance was first to recover its investment and then get a share in profits). It was to the liking of Reliance as Anil Ambani was out and reliance hoped to get Gas for its own use. But that did not happen. So, now Reliance wants the price increased, although it has recovered all its investment.

    Anonymous Reply:

The gas pricing issue ( between Ambani Brothers ) has well been settled at the Supreme Court.

The price hike argument is more on the operational cost escalation

By succeeding in removing M J Akbar from the India Today editorship, the G Company and its mafia, its sycophants and Naukers may have succeeded in stiffling the voice of the Indian people. let us remember what Akbar said about Vadra and Rahul

    ———— quoting M J AKBAR from DNA ~~~~~~~~~

Look at how the Lord of Ayodhya conducted himself on the mere whiff of a rumour. He was ready for an inquiry. And see how the current lords of India like Salman (Khurshid) conduct themselves. They not only get offended with questions but also think nothing of brandishing life threats to the ones raising them.”

The journalist and author says in his latest book “the idea of Pakistan has been weaker than the Pakistani and the idea of India has been stronger than the Indian”.

He said he was happy with the number of scams that are being exposed. “It means that our democracy is alive and people do not fear asking questions,” he added.

Akbar said he was convinced about the charges against both Robert Vadra and Rahul Gandhi. “No matter what eventually comes out of the cases, the people’s court already sees them as guilty,” he said. “The clarification issued by the Congress on Rahul Gandhi, actually ends up ratifying point-by-point every single charge made by Om Prakash Chautala on both the price and the modus operandi used to acquire the land.”

Why Ravana Went Wet This Dusshera

I refuse, yes, refuse, this Dusshera/ To burn at your hands— You who deserve the
burning more/ Roundly than do I…

    Badri Raina

I refuse, yes, refuse, this Dusshera
    To
    burn at your hands—
You who deserve the burning more
    Roundly than do
    I.

That is why the rains came, rendering
    Your self-righteous fire
    limp
    Among the multiplying perfidies
Of the day. Come to think of
    it,
You do so get away, year after sinful
Year, by simply taking it out on
    my effigy.
Your ritual ablution done, how you return
    To ungodly pillage
    and murders foul,
Hiding your evil under all kinds of cowl.
    While I,
    knowledgeable envy of the gods,
Never once touched that fair lady,
    Go
count the rapes you commit, in city
And town, in home and workplace,
    field
    And farmland, school and dharamshala,
    On women, strangers and kin,
    and ages
Of every definition from infancy to
    Vridh avastha.

    Not a
    single citizen of my Lanka
Ever went hungry or ill, unlike your
    republic
Where your grubby hands are always in the till
    That rightfully
    belongs to those millions
Who keep you clean and going, while
    Without the
    least lajja, you preach
Of Ram’s love of his praja.

    And, I refuse,
    also because you who
Set me afire with glee have not an iota
    Of the ngyan
I have of life and death,
Heaven and earth, more than all your
    Godmen and
    charlatans of other hue
    Put together.

    Thus I take a stand; I
    refuse;
And I advise that before the catastrophe
    You breed every minute of
    every day
Crush you to smithereens of screaming
    Sin, go feel your so
    repugnant hypocrisy,
And a new life of self-knowledge begin.
    This easy way
    out of burning my effigy
Once each rapacious year is running
    Its course;
    go among the suffering,
    And their countless agonies endorse
    As a first
step to viewing the real ravana
    That degrades your fallen eye,
    Slithers
    across your slick faces,
    And hides in your beard,
Then fall at my feet and
    learn
Of the truths that even the gods
    Acknowledged only I
    discern.

The numbers are expectedly higher in the Muslim community with 55 per cent saying he should apologise and 50 percent maintaining he could have stopped the riots. Both the communities feel the Gujarat chief minister’s recently-concluded sadbhavana yatra is a political gimmick – the numbers stand 51 per cent and 42 per cent respectively for both the communities.

The responses somehow puts Modi in an awkward position. While some feel 2002 riots should be treated as a thing of the past, not many absolve him of guilt – of omission and commission – for the communal killings in that period. His emphasis on development has not quite managed to erase the negative perception about him.

As the survey reveals, the fear of another 2002-type communal violence still looms large in the public sentiment though it’s much less intense in 2012 compared to 2007. Responding to the question in 2007 whether a repeat of the riots was possible again, 69 percent Hindu and 80 per cent Muslim respondents had said that it was indeed possible. The number has come down to 55 per cent in each community in 2012. It reveals that Muslims are much less apprehensive now. It should be construed as the vote of confidence for Modi.

Yes, indeed. Muslims and Hindus want progress, jobs, education.. Past riots or potential future riots are not in their horizon. To some extent, citizens living in the historically tense areas have already factored the possibilities. Gujrat, notorious for religious riots, has been riot free for 10 years, the longest it has been.

Check these out. The party is one of the fronts of the mother organisation, the
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, an entity promoting cultural nationalism. Thus it is not a no strings attached independent existence for the party. The RSS often foists its choices upon the party, the choice is often someone with deep roots and connections within the organisation. If other senior leaders are not comfortable with lightweights being imposed upon them — Rajnath Singh and Nitin Gadkari are examples – they don’t have too many options.

The party recently changed its constitution to allow a second term for the BJP
president, an apparent move at the RSS’s behest to extend the tenure of
Gadkari. If Sangh insists upon continuing with Gadkari despite all the
allegations of financial irregularities against him, the party does not have a
    choice.

The freedom of party leaders to express free opinions is limited. They have to
operate within the ideological framework of the mother organisation. The
party’s most successful leader, Atal Behari Vajpayee, dared to be different and
he was hated across the Sangh fraternity. LK Advani, the party’s tallest
leader even now, was cut down to size promptly after he praised Jinnah during
his Karachi trip. Narendra Modi is in a continuing battle with the RSS in Gujarat despite being the party’s showpiece leader. The tussle began
after he sought to restrain the interference of the powerful members of the Sangh in governance matters.

Yesterday’s prime time TV on most channels was about Modi’s supposed insult to Sunanda Pushkar, also known as Shashai Tharoor’s latest wife.

Arnab Goswami was literally jumping on his seat with righteous indignation at the “insult” Modi has hurled at her by calling her a 50Crore girl friend.

Here, then, is what Sunanda herself said about the holier-than-thou media:

“Sunanda Pushkar, who was at the centre of the IPL Kochi controversy that led to Shashi Tharoor’s exit from government, says the media just turned her into a ’****’, some kind of ‘brainless eye candy’.

Dubbing as a “medieval witch hunt” the media scrutiny on her after the controversy raged, Sunanda said, “I have always been proud that I have made it alone-on my own terms-in a man?s world.”

So, what is the issue? Having your driver designated as a director is not a crime. Neither the growth of the company. There is nothing prima facie (other than the media jumping on sensation), unlike the 7000 and more acres of Vadra deals. Obviously Gadkari should be punished if illegalities were committed. The Gadkari case is brought to neutralize the Robberji allegations. There is also a Modi fear factor- that Robberji allegations without a countervailing BJP allegation will propel Modi, which Congress definitely does not want, so also the corrupt wheeler dealers within BJP.
Illicit money and financial corruption has been a trademark of Nehru family since 1974, since the Sanjay Gandhi Maruthi deal in Haryana, At that time, a mother, who disdained the rich and the unscrupulous corrupt rich until then, felt a weakness for a reckless son. Had she not, there would have been a better, cleaner real aam admi political party today. The situation in the Nehru family today may be quite similar. A mother may be falling in for her daughter.. But Sanjay Gandhi loot (and any loot of those days) is like 50,000 Rs today. We are now talking real money, in US billion dollars! I will not blame Vadra, neither Shrimathi Gandhi. I blame the congress high command, the IAS and other government officials for letting these go.. Obviously everybody has a hand in the loot.

Modi will fix many of the problems. He does not have to steal for his next generation. However, he will have to push himself and neutralize elements in his party. Aam admi will vote for the party he leads.

    [Reply]

    Anonymous Reply:

    Gopi,
You have made several un-stated assumptions in your posting.
First , Modi fear factor. Actually, it should be other way round. Have you really forgotten tensions between Mr. Modi and Mr. Gadkari ? Who gains when Gadkari weakens ? Mr. Modi and the hard-liners , correct ? So wrong here. Actually, UPA needs Gadkari and Modi both in UPA so that the feud continues. The Gadkari episode might as well be a BJP insider job.

Second, Mrs. Gandhi and Nehru family. Read carefully what you have posted. You are arguing that Mrs. Gandhi turned pro-rich in 1974 due to her son. Furthermore, your appear to be implying that corruption really started then. Really ? Really ?!? Oh , and BTW, you also appear to be downplaying the amount in Maruti scandal then compared to Mr. Vadra’s spoils. Wonderful, pal. Great.
Today’s Hindu runs article by Shalini Singh on Haryana Land Scams documenting Mr. Hooda’s “Midas touch”. Notice the beneficiaries here. DLF comes out somewhere in the middle rung here. Besides Mr. Vadra’s fortunes – there is whole lot to the story in Haryana land deals from the beneficiaries perspectives. And the losers ? Not a word about them so far in the public discourse. Everybody appears to have forgotten the rural poor who sold their land on which this land boom feeds (Incidentally Ms. Arundhati Roy has a phrase for this – structural violence). Now, doesn’t staying fixated on just Mr. Vadra and skirting the remaining story appear a bit criminally conspiratorial ?

Finally, Mr. Modi. What makes you think he will fix the problems ? Are you not overstating the influence of biological heir on person’s behaviour – so much so that the person starts stealing much more than is really necessary. Oh, and BTW, legally it is not quite done thing for him yet. Watch this space for more. In the meantime, I can always trust Mr. Modi with some more jewels from his wisdom – now calling malnourishment to be a “fashion issue” then making derogatory remarks about fellow politician’s wife.

    [Reply]

    Anonymous Reply:

You are right that for Modi, legally it is not quite done thing.
When whole government with all it’s resources is trying to somehow frame him since last ten years than probably they will one day come up with some legally sound eyewitness – Bhatt is discredited – who will convince the court of Modi’s ‘crimes’ . I wish that government had shown similar sincerity in catching and punishing rioters of 1984 than probably we might never would have witnessed other riots in India.
Where wife of Shahsi Tharoor is concerned, I would say Modi was quite soft on her. Our honorable media had treated her with lot of ‘respect’ when her name had surfaced about 18 months back during Kochi IPL sweat equity deal. At that time Tharoor had said that he barely knew her and got married to her after two months. That was his second marriage and this lady’s perhaps third.

    Anonymous Reply:

    Mohan,
Between 1984 and 2002 – there was 1992 (and early 1993) in Mumbai. Strange that you are fixated just on 1984. Not trying to de-emphasise the ghastly riots of 1984 – just pointing out the “communal parity” both NDA and UPA proponents are striving for when making the argument.

As for Shashi Tharoor and his wife – are you by any chance arguing that she “deserved” it because it was her third marriage ?

    Anonymous Reply:

I am not fixated just on 1984 but most of the media and

Congress are fixated on 2001 riots and 1984 riots are

conviniently ignored which were worst then Gujarat. At least In Gujarat courts have

already convicted many people who were involved in riots while

nothing has happened to the culprits of Delhi riots. The situation has reached such a stage that Sikhs in Australia have

asked Australian parliament to declare 1984 riots as genocide.

Victims of that riots are looking for justice outside India.

I would say it is shame on Indian judiciary who in collusion with political

criminals have denied justice to the victims of that ghastly riots.

    -

Where Ms. Tharoor is concerned I would rather not discuss anything more about her on this open public forum.

    Anonymous Reply:

    Mohan,

My reference to 1992/93 was deliberate. It was Congress government that allowed Shiv-Sena to conduct its communal blood-bath. Truly, the only secular congressman that tried to bring in some sanity was Sunil Dutt. The whole point was to underscore the soft state. Pathetically enough, the political class appears to be wallowing in the same communal give and take. Hence my reaction.

I understand your sentiment about 1984. Much of what we saw after 1984 in Punjab was a result of that IMHO, Delhi massacre bred many more extreme sentiments than Bhindranwale ever thought.

Agree with you about Ms. Tharoor – let her and her husband enjoy the privacy.

    Anonymous Reply:

It was his third marriage. also. I guess it his his private matter. As long as all his wives are happy… well he can be called a smart guy who can change wives without offence

About two months back Supreme court had ordered Sahara group to refund
24000 crores back to its investors which they had raised by breaching some rules. The excuse which Sahara gave for not refunding this amount by the dead line set by supreme court – 30 Sep. 2012 – was that 90% of the investors did not have bank accounts. That means about 21600 crores were paid to Sahara in cash by their investors. It is anybody’s guess that how much of that was Sahara’s own black money invested in his own company through fictitious names. Gadkari’s case is not any different from this case.

    ————————————————————————————————-

Please read my posting on reliance and Gas prices of yesterday on this site.

I had tried to explain that the government has to be of Indians, for Indians by Indians. But his government is by reliance and his papa.

In fact Pathak G gave all the reasons why India should by expensive gas.

Well what kejriwal said today roughly corresponds to what I have been saying. Variation in gas prices can only be linked to inflation and not to the international gas prices which OPEC will demand. The production cost does not double. Infact it reduces over a period of time.

But this government is of Vadras and their Malkins…

there is a huge game going on. Corporations in India are creating monopolies in connivance with rulers on our meager resources.

The role of the government has to be to get good deals for the people of India. but the way everything is being handed over to a few families implies we may be i for a violent reaction from the people of India who may just revolt in disgust.

further on Olgipolies and monopolies are bad for any country. Monopolies are the anti-thesis of a market economy which the UPA claims it is promoting.

Here is a news item from India today——-

    कैसे भरती गई कांग्रेस की गुल्लकराय पढ़ेंप्रिंटई-मेलShare

Now I had a favorable opinion of Salman Khurshid once.

After all he is the chairman of Rizwan;s school!

Anyway here is some more irrefutable good news about Khurshid. he happens to be the chairman of DPS society. It is commone knowledge that admission to DPS schools is fixed at the highest level. 30% percent of admissions are done on cash– Black money basis.

The chairman appoints the people who collect the money.

For example admission to DPS central Delhi is about 15 lakhs per student now.

So 100 students paying 15 lakhs is … 15 crores per year !!!!!!!!!!

And this rate lowers or gets higher for other DPS schools. And there are at least 30 of them !

Now is Khurshid so innocent that it all happens under his gaze? That the collection agent in the school hapens to be his man?

Even Pathak G cant create spin on this!

Caste aside Modi Modi Rape Rape, now suicide makes The Evening Standard in Tora Bora Land

Top Indian businesswoman ‘driven to suicide by caste prejudice of in-laws’

A leading Indian businesswoman hanged herself because her in-laws could never accept her low-caste caste and had “mentally tortured” her, it was claimed today.

Akanksha Rathi, 32, was found hanged in her New Delhi home last week, a month after her 34-year-old husband Anirudh died of a heart attack.

Days before Mrs Rathi had filed what is known in India as a “dowry harassment” complaint against her in-laws.

She told police they had never been able to overcome her humble origins and were trying to stop her claiming her husband’s share of the family steel empire.

Congress drops Louise CD bomb on IAC

    http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Congress-drops-Louise-CD-bomb-on-IAC/articleshow/17039768.cms

KANPUR: In an attempt to play the spoilsport for Arvind Kejriwal’s November 1 rally in Farrukhabad, the Congress has released CDs which allegedly carry an audio-conversation between Salman Khurshid’s wife Louise Khurshid and India Against Corruption convener Lakshman Singh, wherein the latter offers Louis cancellation of the rally if the party removes Punni Shukla from the post of City Congress chief. The IAC claimed that the CD was forged and fabricated by corrupt elements.

At a press conference on Wednesday, district Congress president Aftab Hussain distributed the CDs among reporters. He said the Congress decided to make the recently recorded audio conversation public to make people aware of Ithe AC’s wrongdoings.

Later, in a hurriedly called press conference, IAC activists said they would file a defamation suit against the Congressmen in the next few days. Omendra Bharat, member of the state working committee of IAC, said, “The CD, which is fake, has been made in a pre-planned manner and purposely used by Congressmen on the eve of Arvind Kejriwal’s rally to damage IAC’s reputation.”

IAC activists made elaborate arrangements for the rally in Farrukhabad, considered a Congress bastion. All roads leading to Lohia park ground in Awas Vikas area of the district were decked up with IAC posters and banners.

The Farukhabad district administration has banned canes which Bharatiya Kisan Union volunteers planned to use “to protect” Arvind Kejriwal during the rally. BKU offered armed support to IAC following an alleged “threat” by Salman Khurshid.

HOW THE MEDIA WHICH TODAY IS ACTING HOLIER-THAN-THOU ON MODI’S REAMRKS ABOUT SUNANDA PUSHKAR, TREATED HER IN 2010?

    ————————————————————————————————–

“Though the matches have ended, unfortunately the IPL saga continues to unravel and hog headlines. But when and if it finally recedes to an inside page or off television screens, perhaps most people will have forgotten the Sunanda Pushkar episode.

At least that is what she will hope although she is unlikely to forget the treatment she received at the hands of the Indian media. You can debate whether she was as culpable as Shashi Tharoor when she accepted what appears to be a special favour, but the issue that the media focused on was not the impropriety of that as much as the private life and times of one woman. Why? Because she is a woman and the media is sexist, as Tharoor suggested? Or because some people decided that a woman like that should not be seen in the company of powerful upper class men like Tharoor? Or was it a combination of class bias and misogyny?”

“The troubles of Dubai-based Sunanda Pushkar may be far from over. The IPL Kochi franchise controversy has already had its first casualty with her friend Shashi Tharoor, being forced to resign from the Union Cabinet.

Though Ms. Pushkar has given up her “sweat equity” in the Kochi franchise voluntarily, the Income Tax Department is not impressed and could come knocking on her door.

Officials associated with the investigations into the Indian Premier League’s murky deals were of the view that Ms. Pushkar could be asked to cough up tax on the “sweat equity.”

“There is no provision, as such, of voluntary return of equity. She was allotted sweat equity as a member of the Rendezvous Sports World consortium and as her share came to around 19 per cent, she could have a tax liability of nearly Rs. 20 crore on the Rs. 74 crore amount,” a senior official said.”

Since Rendezvous owns 25 per cent of the franchise, Ms. Sunanda’s stake is valued at roughly Rs. 74 crore, based on the consortium’s bid of over Rs. 1,500 crore.

She is understood to have got the sweat equity in Rendezvous Sports World as a gift in return for professional services to be provided in the future for the company. Her lawyer’s statement had clearly established that she earned this stake as part of her business venture.

    THE HINDU, 23APRIL, 2010.

“Tharoor’s position had become untenable and it was only appropriate that he resigned. There was so much evidence against him. The lady giving back her equity does not absolve him of the charges,” said BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman.

CPI leader D. Raja said the exit of Mr. Tharoor became inevitable and the Congress should have taken a decision long back when the controversy exploded.

The reported decision of Ms. Sunanda surrendering her stake is itself “an admission of guilt,” he said.

Taj Mahal’s replica in Dubai to be four times its size

The replica — Taj Arabia — will include one million sq ft of retail space besides a 300-room hotel.

According to Link Global, the company behind the project, there are plans to build a replica of the Taj Mahal in Dubai’s USD 36.5 billion Falcon City of Wonders — a multi-purpose project being developed in Dubai.

17 and joined RSS. After that he visited his home only few times for very short periods and during those visits he always stayed away from Jashodaben. She never re married and spent her life alone as Modi’s wife but never told anyone about this. Modi still visits his mother regularly but has not kept any relation with this lady.

—–> the faults he points in Hindus occur more in Sikhs– female infanticide, drunkeness. wife beating. he will never state this in his analysis.

—–> During his stay in UK he has got involved with Pakistani Muslim women or fantasizes of being involved with them.

——> His outpourings are a result of a deeper need to reassure himself that he is better off than Indians who stay here, even though that may not be true.

Ravi is a fake, whether as a Muslim or as a Mona Sikh, because he was happy to join hands with a degenerate Islamic fundoo called Ram Autar, with the sole aim of denigrating and insulting Hindus. As you say, his association and even close sexual attachment with ‘his kind’ of Pakistani Women in UK might have made him a terribly dissatisfied pervert. well You guys have tempted me to test out my skills. here is an analysis which cant be very wrong.

    —–>
Ravi is actually a Mona Sikh. Sorry Vijay, Shenoy, gopi who doubted him on this. 10, but then I did provided some information
that you by your own admission were unable to accept as that would mean you are taking sides, which you felt that you were unable to. The fact that you already were on the other side did not occur to. Ashish has also mentioned the above information several times.

—–> he is actually based in UK. And not Tora Bora. 10

—–> He is not too happy with life. Sorry ravi, dont mean to hurt you here. But maybe financially or life satisfaction index wise.
0 I am very happy with my life, enjoying being a grandfather.

—–> he derives a pleasure in insulting Hindus/Hinduism 0 I find the philosophical aspects of Hinduism fascinating. I hate Right Wing Politics no matter what. My postings are in support of Indian minorities against BVShenoy, Gopi, and Vijay Kumar Khaploathia.

as a certain section of Sikhs were always told that Hindu darpok hote hai. Further on they were always told to look down on HIndus so as to retai a distinct Sikh identity. 3 </bI am not that kind of a Sikh. I am not even a temple going Sikh, I just enjoy Sikh Kirtan on my Ipod.

—–> the faults he points in Hindus occur more in Sikhs– female infanticide, drunkeness. wife beating. he will never state this in his analysis. 6 All the faults pointed with Sikh’s in
the UK are correct. I do not even get drunk, let alone practice any of the others.

—–> During his stay in UK he has got involved with Pakistani Muslim women or fantasizes of being involved with them. 0
I personally know no one who could be described as Pakistan Originated Person. In my work I have a hand full of Muslim colleagues they are ALL Indian, mainly Gujarati and Tamil.

——> His outpourings are a result of a deeper need to reassure himself that he is better off than Indians who stay here, even though that may not be true. 3 Most my relatives in India are better off than me.

—–> He is about 60-65 yrs old 10 Hardly
based on any analysis, considering I have mentioned it several times.

FORENSIC VINOO Investigates ‘sharp’ business practices & fictitious shell companies

    Stuck in a time warp

    Rajdeep Sardesai

    November 01, 2012

Nitin Gadkari isn’t quite known to mind his language. A few weeks
after he took over as BJP president, he expressed himself with typical candour
to a group of journalists: “I know you must be wondering who is this bloody
‘mota’ guy from nowhere. I want to tell all of you I am on a mission, not here
for commission!” Three years later, those words may well come to haunt him as he is slowly pushed into exile from the Delhi durbar.

In this open season against corruption, it would be easy to see Gadkari as yet
another high-profile ‘target’ of the growing public anger against political
corruption. What might have been dismissed as ‘sharp’ business practices in
another period is now evidence of yet another politician trying to wink at the
law by a mix of recklessness and subterfuge. Why else would a self-proclaimed ‘social entrepreneur’ choose to set up a maze of fictitious shell companies unless he believed he could get away with it using political clout?

And yet, the eclipse of Gadkari is not just about a popular rage against the
neta. It also reflects a growing crisis within the country’s premier Opposition
party. In the last three years, in the relentless gaze on the wrongdoings of
the UPA 2, the BJP has been in soft focus. And yet, the travails of the BJP at
times suggest that its future is just as uncertain as the Congress’s.

The Congress is a private limited company tightly controlled by one family. The BJP, on the other hand, is increasingly resembling a shell company where the directors exist on paper, but the real investors have their address in Keshav Kunj in Nagpur. The Gandhi family may have escaped stern scrutiny but at least its top leaders have to face the people during elections. The RSS leadership, on the other hand, remains an extra-constitutional grouping which can determine the fate of the BJP without being tested in electoral waters. It is this conflict between an elected, accountable BJP leadership and an unelected, unaccountable RSS that lies at the heart of the BJP’s present crisis.

Aligarh Muslim Univ alumni flock to Ahmedabad, back Modi

    http://www.firstpost.com/politics/amu-alumni-to-flock-in-ahmedabad-back-modi-507529.html

Ahmedabad: In a move that might somewhat restore Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi‘s image before the state’s Muslim community, a bunch of Aligarh Muslim University alumni from Bihar will campaign for the Bharatiya Janata Party.

We will expose the Congress among Muslims by telling them that the party had been indulging in politics of fear and not of development. We will convince Muslims that they should vote for Modi and his development work. We will be in Gujarat for the campaign in the second week of November,” he said.

    [Reply]

    Ravi Reply:

    Mohan

This notion that a community feels what any Political Party says it should feel is fancyful.

If the Development Story of Gujarat is including the Muslim Community in it then Gujrati Muslims will feel included and will not hesitate in voting Modi. Conversely if they are not then their vote will go to laternative parties.

Likewise the Congress is not creating fear among Muslims, it may be accused of exploiting the fear that may exist, but Congress has never created that fear. Fear is usually created around local issues and riots among local communities. In this regard the RSS/BJP combo have for ever more engaged in the Othering of the Muslim community and there-by CREATING the fear using rioting as a crude instruement.

    [Reply]

    Anonymous Reply:

Riots prone Gujarat thankfully has not witnessed any riots since last 10 years and if Modi stays CM for another term of 5 years than he will make sure that Gujarat remains riots free.
Even if what you say about Congress that they don’t create fear among Muslims but only exploit the already existing fear is correct than I would say that is as bad as creating fear. This means that Congress for political gains makes sure that Hindu-Muslims remain divided.

    [Reply]

    Ravi Reply:

Gujarat has been riot free for the last 10 years because there has been no need for them. The moment the Congress starts to re-assert itself in Gujarat and the BJP is on the back-foot, riots will resume.
Fear has been used by the BJP and its Sponsor the RSS as a primary political strategy. You can not get away from that.

    Anonymous Reply:

In Gujarat more riots had taken place during Congress government in comparison to BJP rule.

    Ravi Reply:

My point precisely. When the Congress is in power, the BJP/RSS encourage rioting. Conversely when the BJP is in power, there is no need for riots.

    Anonymous Reply:

That’s great. BJP is blamed if riots occur under their rule and they are also blamed if riots take place when they are opposition.

Congress has created fear, caused fear, and used all the tools in the box of politics to preserve and maintain that the voting block remains squarely on their side. Fortunately, most of the Muslims all over India have realized where Congress has left them. Congress itself is in the dustbin limited in operation to a few backward North Indian states. My crystal ball is that states will become more and more assertive, and we will become more like the United States of India. New political affiliations will emerge in that process creating two or three national parties.

I do not agree, for the following reasons.
    1. The Muslim vote for Congress is not always a positive vote for Congress, it is more of an Anti BJP vote. They are anti BJP because the BJP is clearly a COMMUNAL HINDU party.
    2. Throughout its FASCIST history it is the RSS that has used RIOTING as a tactic to instill fear among minorities and to consolidate the Hindu Vote.
Your crystal ball is full of water and a romantic scene with white flakes floating in it.

2 days ago was the 137th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.
Had Patel lived longer, what would have been Indias future? would he have joined with Rajagopalachari against Nehru’s socialism, and forced Nehru to limited govt and liberalization and encourage entrepreneurship and free enterprise? Would we have become, on a living standard, in par with Malaysia?
Would there have been Congress chamchas who will nominate Srimathi Indira Priyadarshini who will lay the foundation of corruption for the bureaucracy and govt ?

Neither the first, nor the third is of any consequence in Indias evolution. Vascoda Gama landed in Calicut, 90 miles from my ancestral “tharavad’. He came, he left, Portugese had few colonies. Christianity was on Indias shores thousand years before that. Of course, you are generous to Baber by terming his attack, invasion, conversion, etc into “settle” (do you mean that he did not go back to Central Asia after he looted). The culture – Hindustani music, architecture, food etc – was enriched by the Moguls. However, the legacy they left behind is the albatross of the Hindu-Muslim problems, the never ending Pakistani terror — I will take life over culture any time.

I bet you were never a true consultant. You might have been hired to fill the volume – to do only touch-point manning.

In 3-4 posting on the same subject, you could never give your real position.

This posting gives some indication the problem you faced at DPS.

Kendriya Vidyalaya all over India helped Army men with their kids’ education while they move from one posting to another.

This kind of mobility didn’t happen much in Corporate sector before.

But with economy booming, we suddenly had a lot of MNC’s with multilocational offices all over India. Every now and then we had senior executives move from one city to another with their families and kids.

The quality education for their kids was a major concern that made them hesitate take up new-location assignments even if it promised them better career prospects.

    Solution :

The big corporations started negotiating with major schools including DPS for a few “reserved seats” for their employees. These seats were sponsored by these corporations and they paid “heavy amount”. The schools used that money to improve the infrastructure and many a time helped education of poor students.

Microsoft, Huges, Nokia had similar arrangements with DPS, R K Puram.

Any blogger here from DPS, R K Puram can confirm this.

When you moved back to Delhi and your child was in higher class, you might have flashed your MNC linkage.

You definitely could afford that as a consultant in top five.

    So stop grumbling.

    One more thing.

DPS like any other good school could take any student with “outstanding academic record and high potential ” without high fee even during mid session.

In Delhi, lots of students go to FMS without a very high fee, while others pay exorbitant fee and struggle with mediocre institutes.

    The difference – academic credential.

Muslim thought and society entered a long, sad decline under influence of Ash’arite dogmas. The Islamic Golden Age, when Muslim science, philosophy, medicine and technology were the best in the world, is long, long past. Today, Spain translates more books in a single year than the entire Arab world has in the past thousand; scientific inquiry is nearly dead in the Islamic world; the Arab world stands near the bottom of every measure of human development.

How Congress damns itself in National Herald land-grab case

    http://www.firstpost.com/politics/how-congress-damns-itself-in-national-herald-land-grab-case-513251.html

Yesterday’s bluster has already given way to today’s retreat. Barely hours after Subramanian Swamy went public with his allegations of financial impropriety and other assorted malpractices in the National Herald case, directly implicating Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi, the Congress appeared momentarily to rise to his challenge. A letter purporting to be from “Rahul Gandhi‘s office”, issued on Thursday night, said he reserved the right to take legal action against Swamy for his “baseless” allegations.

But barely 24 hours later, the Congress is already dialling back its rhetorical bravado. Rahul Gandhi doesn’t actually have to file a defamation case against Swamy; his mere threat to file a case counts as adequate response, says Manish Tewari, recently inducted into the Manmohan Singh ministry as reward for his past exertions as indefatigable party spokesperson.

Businessman arrested again for praising Chidu’s son, tweet deemed to be sarcastic, hence defamatory

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    November 3, 2012 | Filed under: Featured,General,Latest | Posted by: UnReal Mama

    ——————————————————————————————–

Just when Tamil Nadu based trader, Ravi Sreenivasan thought the worst was behind him – he had recently been arrested by the Puducherry police before being granted bail for tweeting that Home Minister Chidambaram’s son, Karti Chidambaram, was wealthier than Robert Vadra – he found himself on the wrong side of the law yet again.

Ravi was picked up this time around for tweeting: “Karti is a sweet guy. I wish him all the best.”

Although the tweet, at first glance, seems to be in praise of Karti, the Home Minister’s son found it to be sarcastic, and hence, acutely annoying. This implied that Ravi was yet again in violation of the provisions of Section 66(1) of the Information Technology Act, under which a non bailable arrest warrant can be issued for posting content that , inter alia, causes ‘annoyance’ or ‘inconvenience’.

A highly aggrieved Karti later told The Unreal Times, “I was just recovering from the trauma of the first tweet when I noticed Ravi’s latest tweet. At first, I thought he was being friendly but it slowly dawned on me that it was extremely sarcastic and downright humiliating. I then decided to seek constitutional and legal remedy for being inconvenienced, which fortunately the IT Act offers. I must say, I was definitely inconvenienced by the tweet.”

In addition, the TN Govt and the Manufacturers Association are in the final stages of forming a manufacturing competitiveness council. This council will strategize and implement plans so that 25% of the state GDP will come from manufacturing by 2023 (as a part of the TN Vision Jayalalitha announced early part of the year)

SUBRAMANYA SWAMY FILES PETITION WITH EC FOR CANCELLING RECOGNITION TO CONGRESS PARTY.

If the EC accepts the charge made by Swamy about the congress indulging in malpractices, it would be doing a signal service to the nation.

    WHY?

Because Mahatma Gandhi, who is NOT the father of the nation any more according to this government, had advised Nehru to dissolve the congress party immediately after independence. But, Nehru, who always dreamed of becoming the prime minister of India didn’t obey the command of the father of the nation, who is now reduced to a mere statue by Nahru’s great grand daughter-in-law.

The original sin of November 1984

Twenty-eight years ago in New Delhi, Kanpur and Bokaro, a murderous attack was launched against Indians of the Sikh faith by mobs organised and instigated by Congress politicians bent upon using the tragic assassination of Indira Gandhi as an occasion for political manipulation and gain.

The issue at stake is not simply a moral one. The fact that the politicians and police officers responsible for 1984 not only escaped indictment but actually prospered had grave implications for minorities elsewhere in India. The riot system perfected by the Congress on the streets of Delhi was unveiled again in Bombay in 1993 and, finally, by the Bharatiya Janata Party government of Gujarat in 2002. The parallels between 1984 and 2002 are striking. Like Rajiv Gandhi’s ‘Newtonian’ logic, Chief Minister Narendra Modi described the killing of innocent Muslims in his State as a spontaneous reaction to the burning of Hindu train passengers at Godhra. BJP and sangh parivar activists led the mobs in various places and were rewarded, like Maya Kodnani, with plum jobs. The Gujarat police used the same tactics as their Delhi counterparts to ensure the criminal investigation of major riot cases went nowhere.

Great Developments in BJP Ruled Karnataka

Subrahmanya panchayat cancels annual cattle fair

Pressure from Hindutva outfits scuttles event at Kulkunda

Bowing to pressure from the Bajrang Dal, the Subrahmanya Gram Panchayat in Dakshina Kannada has decided not to hold the historic cattle fair at Kulkunda, near the renowned Kukke Subrahmanya temple, this year.

Instead, the fair, scheduled to begin on November 28, may be reduced to a gou puja (cow worship) ritual.

The fair, which sees 2,000 to 3,000 head of cattle (down from 50,000 during its heyday), has traditionally been a meeting point for farmers from Hassan, north Karnataka and Kasaragod to trade in cattle.

The Bajrang Dal has alleged that most of the cattle end up in slaughterhouses
    in Kasaragod.

Panchayat member Shivaram Rai claimed that activists tried to attack him and
others last November on this issue. Cases were registered against two Bajrang Dal activists. Later, the activists too lodged complaints against panchayat members.

Bajrang Dal leader Sharan Pumpwell claimed that the cattle fair benefited Kerala-based slaughterhouses and it had to stop. He said that only exhibition of cattle should be allowed. Unable to withstand the pressure, the panchayat recently passed a resolution stating that it would not hold the fair, citing lack of
security and hostile actions of “vested interests”.

You are right. There is no difference between Rahul/Sonia family or Karuna/Alagiri family or Raddy/Reddy family or Maulyam Singh or Shautala or Hooda.

However, unlike all these other families, where the scion declared as the leader and dictated; it was others who “made” Indira And Sonia. The Congress coterie who does not want any one among themselves as a leader, always thought the daughter or bahu is better for them to steal rather than, say a Morarji in Indira’s days, or Rao/Pranab etc post Indira/post Rajiv days.

4 Lakh illegal rickshaws, 6 Lakh illegal vendors and Why Politics
    Matters – even to Entrepreneurs

    http://blogs.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/reclaiming-india/entry/4-lakh-illegal-rickshaws-6-lakh-illegal-vendors-and-why-politics-matters-even-to-entrepreneurs

Did you know that more than 80 percent of the cycle-rickshaws in Delhi are illegal (since
there are only 99,000 of them allowed legally)? Govt functionaries in Delhi
extort a crore a month from the cycle-rickshaw pullers alone! This was the
figure in 2006. It has probably doubled since then.

Were you aware that Delhi’s approximately 600,000 street vendors operate
without the necessary license and pay up about Rs 12 million per month in
bribes? Again, this is from 2006

Were you aware that a law in the state of Maharashtra requires farmers to
sell their sugar cane to a specified sugar mill in the district[i]?

Did you know of the law in Kerala which mandates that once a farm is
registered as producing one crop, it cannot change its crop without government
    permission[ii]?!

By the way, a request if you can help. Other day you had

said something about Sahara model of doing business,

I did try to find out on the internet but was not able to

which would give me clear picture . Will you please tell me

about any website which will tell me what you were trying

to suggest. I am genuinely interested.

    devduttkumar Reply:

Thanks for your genuine interest :

    1) Sahara’a financial business is based on marginal investors.
    2) These investors could be vegetable vendors contributing Rs.10/- or 20/- a day or a doctor Rs.250/- a day to their saving.
    3) The collector actually visits these people and collects money on daily basis.
    4) Some of them may have bank accounts. But most of them don’t.
    5) What works in this model is that the investors don’t visit the

Bank or PO, but the collector visits on daily basis and collect money on behalf of them; either gives a receipt or gets signature on the ledger.

    6) The rest is usual financial engineering. Getting best value for their investment with high bonus and reward.

    7) Remember the whole model is based on the Marginal investors. So the investor base is quite large. The daily investment by these people are very small. So the manipulation has to be not by few entries but by lakhs of entries to get a decent amount( don’t tell this to the budbak billi )

    Anonymous Reply:

Appreciate your reply. Thanks. I know a person who does
similar kind of business in Kutch but at a very very small scale
in comparison to Sahara and he does gives decent returns to his small investors. But where Sahra is concerned the figures are mind boggling that is why it is very difficult to digest
that any company can borrow about 20000 crores from
these small vendors. The only thing which comes to mind
is that most of it would be their own black money reinvested
in ‘benami’ names in their own company .

    devduttkumar Reply:

Possibly yes. But reinvesting let’s say even 10 crores black money needs 1 crore false entries. Sahara supervisors that I knew never made any false entries at the local level.

You must know more about Sahara’s business operation to appreciate the enormity of it.

But we must not discount the huge entrepreneurship Subrato Roy has demonstrated.

He took Raj Babber to villages to get the crowd and listen to his plan.

I can not discount people’s lust for managing black money.

But I truly value people who make against all odds. Little mistakes here and there do not really matter.

    Anonymous Reply:

No doubt about the entrepreneurship of Subrato Roy

and I always admire such people specially their innovative ways of doing business. The problem starts when

all of these big business houses in a race to be on top indulge in malpractices, bending/breaking rules by bribing babus,

    politicians, law enforcers etc.

    devduttkumar Reply:

    They hardly bribe.

Babus always show the willingness because they need to impress their wives with a new diamond set or children with a swanky holiday.

    Anonymous Reply:

We can always blame our shortcomings on our wives.

I am corrupt because my wife wanted a diamond necklace.
    :)

    devduttkumar Reply:

Trust me, you are not the only one.

Many good honest people get ridiculed on daily basis by their wives for their honesty and eventually fall for the trapping.

“Who brought dengue first to India? Congress!” exclaims Rahul Gandhi, on reports of Kasab’s illness,
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Moments after news reports of jailed Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab’s contracting the dreaded Dengue illness surfaced and brought joy to millions of Indians, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi claimed credit for the incident, saying, “Who brought this killer dengue to India? Congress!”

Throwing more light on his claim, the Nehru-Gandhi scion said, ” This is a classic example of why MDI or Mosquitoes Dengue in India is beneficial to the whole country. Who isn’t affected by acts of terrorism? I admit our legal system is flawed, but aren’t all truly equal under the eyes of killer mosquitoes? The opposition doesn’t want any reforms from us but just wait and watch, in the coming months, I will see to it that we get parliament nod for the Mosquitoes National Regulation and Empowerment Government Act (MNREGA) to be passed. This will see to it that terrorists all over the country get quick Dengue punishment.”

On this lazy Sunday, between sleep and cricket and some time on this blog I thought it would be good fun to pull the chehra off a confused soul.

Vinoo had done a forensic analysis of Ravi. Here is what i have to add. That this man is a fraud. Beyond the prense of liberal thoughts he is a racist. He has no qualms of calling dark colored people Rakshas. He ascribes value to skin color.

Alas! He probably never heard of gandhi, Martin Luther king or Obama.

All the people like Mahesh and Manohar who sided with him please note. Mahesh, being a maharahstiran and thus darker skinned then Sialkoti, , Tora bora ravi is low in his eyes. Manohar, Punjabi in Mumbai, would rank higher..

Normally I would not waste time on an underling called Ravi. But since I am out to treat and reverse brainwash him for his hatred of India and Hindus, this is necessary.

    Rakshasas are Dravidians
Aryan literature is replete with references to the hated Rakshasas. Rakshasa is a term of contempt for Dravidians and other black aboriginals. Some Aryan apologists have claimed that this term means `demon’ and does not refer to the aboriginals. This is entirely unfounded, however, because an overwhelming amount of evidence indicates that it is an abusive term applied to the native black populations of India (Dravidian, Kolarian, Kshudraka, etc.) :

Rakshasas have black skin, broad nose, large mouth (ie. proganthism) and thick lips.

In Ceylon, the term Rakshasa is applied in Cinghalese chronicles to the aboriginals. The vernacular applies Rakko or Yakko to them. This is confirmed by Chinese travellers [ Ann. 111 ].

The kingdom of the Rakshasas was the southern part of India south of the Vindhya range as mentioned in the Ramayana. Ravaa’s capital was Lanka on the island of Sri Lanka.

As a consequnece of Rama’s invasion, Lanka is now an Aryan-speaking country (but racially Dravidian). Moreover, the Indo-Aryan language Sinhalese is related to Eastern Indo-Aryan languages such as Oriya, a region whence part of Rama’s army originated.

Rahu is another famous Rakshasa. Another name of his is Melayaja, a term evidently derived from Malla, the name of a Dravidian tribe [ Opp.18 ], and whence Malbhum and Malayalam.

Ravan is a title of distinction with the ancient rulers of Lanka [ Ban.50 ].

Ravana is referred to as Rakshasendra [ Ann. 111 ].

Muslim college in Kanpur makes veil, scarf compulsory for girls, bans cellphones

    http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/kanpur/Muslim-college-in-Kanpur-makes-veil-scarf-compulsory-for-girls-bans-cellphones/articleshow/17091185.cms

LUCKNOW: In a Talibani diktat of sorts, a girls’ college in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur city has made scarf and veil compulsory for students. The school has also banned mobile phones inside the campus.

According to reports, the Muslim Jubilee Girls Inter College management has decided to strictly enforce the new rules with immediate effect and has warned that those found violating the directive would be expelled. The college administration justified its decision saying that it would curb incidents of eve-teasing and would promote Islamic culture among students.

    [Reply]

    Ravi Reply:

In banning the Mobile Phones on the school premises you will find that this colloege is far from being unique.

As regards Scarf/Veil is concerned whilst I would personally oppose it. I can understand as to why the management would have taken the view that they did. Many schools have comulsary school uniform (mine did) so why should this case be any different. Though the linking of the story with Taliban is an exercise in sensationalism.

Lets not forget that Headscarfs are banned in French Schools.

As I did. That bit you failed to read. This whole blog is made up of words and you play with them just as much as any one else.
Jewish Boys are complusarily required to wear Kippah, Sikh boys are compulsarily required to cover their heads. Both are dictats made by the respective religions. Conservative Christian schools in the US as well as in Africa do requires girls to wear head scarfs. In fact when I was young a white scarf with RED banding was compulsory in the CJM school in Dlehi.
You chose to publicise the story in order to justify your passionately held Islam-o-phobic views.

One for the good of the society and another for criminal activities, but both were intelligent people in their own way. It depends how you use your intelligence, Ponzi scheme kings Maddax and Stanford used their intelligence to cheat people and became billionaires. Raja used his intelligence to bring forward the day
of submitting the bid for 2G to help his friends. Vadra is intelligent enough to know his influence being son in law of Ms.Gandhi and uses this power to ammas huge amount of money. Gadkari was intelligent enough to invest his own black money by creating web of companies in the names of his drivers and cooks. Advani at the fading end of his political carrer was intelligent enough to believe that his Rath yatra against corruption will gain him popularity. Two distinguished bloggers here, Devduttkumar and PathakG – if they both are not same- use their intelligence to ridicule other bloggers when anything is posted by them against Congress and Gandhi family. Yes, I agree fully. Vivekananda used his intellect and education for the upliftment of Hindu society, whereas Dawood Ibrahim, may be with even a higher IQ than Swamy Vivekananda, used his intellect and ill-gotten money from gun runnunig and smuggling for “entertaining” journalists like Rajdeep Sardesai and cricketers like Azharuddin. He also used his money for destroying India’s composite culture by causing bomb blasts and terror acts in India.

It is good news that Modi wants some of the long term BJP MLAs not to contest the coming assembly elections. It will be great if these MLs do not bolt from the party and start new party (as most of the politicians do) Modi himself will have to have believable convincing answers as to why he wants a third term.

Congress/Sonia will have another blck mark , quite similar to their UP experience, in Gujrat. They have chosen a high stakes game of going after Modi with lies and inuendos, it isa high risk/high reward scheme ; quite likely to crash; propelling Modi to new heights

    [Reply]

Gopi, you are right. The recent Sunanda natak was a help rendered by a pliant media to the congress to show Modi as a woman hater. It is a different matter that women in Gujarat simply worship Modi.

About the leadership, Nehru ruled the country for seventeen disastrous years, bringing ruin and penury to the people. Indira Gandhi continued the same ruinous socialist regime for another seventeen years.

Jyoti Babu ruled, West Bengal, again disastrously for more than 20years.

The ten years of Modi rule has brought great progress and improvement in living standards for the people of Gujarat.

Therefore, the rule doesn’t apply to the rule-maker. Moreover, his next term in Gujarat may last just over a year, if he were to be asked by the people of India to become their Prime Minister.

    It still hurts

A photo exhibition capturing the carnage of 1984 serves as a reminder for some, a cathartic act for many, and also a means of raising awareness for all

Nineteen-year-old Anusha Roy, student at a vocational institute, would have probably never come to know about the carnage of 1984 if it were not for the scores of photographs put up at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib as part of “Forgotten Citizens 1984: Justice Campaign for 1984”. “I know about the Hindu-Muslim riots but not about these Sikh killings,” said Anusha moving around wearing a bewildered expression.

On the other hand, Bhupinder Singh is trying to identify his relatives amongst a group of 20 widows. “We had six houses in one row in Sagarpur and all male members were finished off. I can identify not all but some of my relatives in this picture. I feel pained and hurt and that’s why I am here.”

Alarmed by reports of Kasab contracting Dengue, Pakistan offers to help India contain the epidemic.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Alarmed by news of reports of 26/11 terror convict, Ajmal Kasab, suffering from Dengue like symptoms, Islamabad has offered full assistance and co-operation to Indian authorities in containing the spread of this vector-borne disease. Explaining the strategic rationale behind Pakistan’s seemingly paradoxical move, General Kayani said that they now consider the Dengue virus to pose a bigger existential threat to Pakistan than even India. “We completely get it this time. We need to tackle the Dengue virus so that we can be in a position to tackle India,” grimly noted the Pakistan Army Chief.

    Open politics to scrutiny

    http://blogs.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/headon/entry/open-politics-to-scrutiny

Political parties, across the board, are stonewalling efforts to clean up the electoral system

The move to place political parties under the Right To Information (RTI) Act has drawn sharp protests from every major political party. The principal argument: political parties are not public authorities. At the final Central Information Commission (CIC) hearing held before a full bench on November 1, political parties claimed exemption from the RTI Act on the bizarre grounds that “revealing names of their donors might endanger the donors` lives” and that “it would impact the parties’ decision-making process”. The CIC verdict has been reserved and will be announced shortly. Interestingly, the Congress was the only major party absent at this final CIC hearing. The BJP, BSP, CPM and NCP among others were present.

Media investigations have claimed that several shell companies (inactive business entities floated for financial manoeuvres) were floated to pump finances for Purti.

Addresses of several of the directors of these companies furnished to the Registrar of Companies were allegedly found to be fake.

Both Income Tax and Registrars of Companies have launched investigations.

Ram Jethmalani had also attacked Gadkari about a fortnight ago, saying he should quit in the interest of the party and his own.

“In the interest of the party, in his own interest, he should get out of the fray now and he must give the position to somebody who inspires greater confidence. He should not aspire for a second term,” Ram Jethmalani had said.

Maintaining that Gadkari’s continuance weakened the party’s position, Jethmalani said, “Obviously, there is suspicion about his integrity and in the interest of the party and his own interest he must get out of this position.

Rahul Gandhi paradox: He is the ‘system’ he says is flawed.

    http://www.firstpost.com/politics/rahul-gandhi-paradox-he-is-the-system-he-says-is-flawed-514744.html

Rahul Gandhi’s speech was a riddle wrapped in an enigma. Evidently looking to feed off the widespread popular anger directed at the corrupt ‘system’ (which anti-corruption activists like Arvind Kejriwal and others have channelled effectively), Rahul Gandhi took off on a tear projecting himself and the Congress as the champion of the aam aadmi in taking on this ‘system’.

That is, of course, an admirable objective – except that Rahul Gandhi appeared to have overlooked the 800-pound gorilla on the stage: that he, and the Congress party, were both consummate ‘insiders’ in the system that he was railing against.

Perhaps it hasn’t been brought to Rahul Gandhi’s notice, but the Congress has been pretty much ruling India for all but a handful of the 65 years since independence. And he, as the latest in a long line of dynasts who have presided over the destiny of the Congress and the country (considerably for the worse, it needs to be said), is the standard bearer of that legacy. Which makes him a significant cog in the venal ‘system’ that he today rants about.

The writer here has issues only with BJP and Modi, or in a broad sense, anyone who is anti-Congress, check previous blogs. If Congress engineers a riot of any form or indulges in corruption, she will never discuss it in her blogs, you won’t find anti-Congress articles or blogs from the writer. In fact, by replying to this blog, I realize I am wasting time, coz when she has decided she wants to ignore Congress’s demerits and channel all her energies in writing against BJP, Modi. Basically, if there is any national issue which is anti Congress, the writer will waste no time in defending the Congress. All previous blogs are testimony to this. The writer is okay if Sharad Pawar becomes PM as according to the writer, he is not convicted in any corruption case contrary to public perception.
I am not defending Modi for 2002, if Modi is guilty, so is the Congress for 1984 Massacre; but what happened ? Has anything been done on that part ? Not really. Then why just label one party ? All of the writer’s blogs give me a feeling that they are pro-Congress, directly or indirectly. According to the writer, we must allow a “Secular” party like Congress to continue to govern us despite their massive corruption scams but not give BJP a chance at the Centre because it is non-secular. So, Secularism should not be compromised even if lakhs of crores of scams continue to happen. Blatant defence of Congress and leaving no stone unturned to slam BJP is not the definition of unbiased journalism.
