Atlantis-The city resort
On the Emirates flight to Dubai, a city that many Indians know well but which I hardly know at all. Somehow, I’ve never had a reason to go there and oddly enough, nor have I felt anything more than marginal curiosity about it.

At Delhi airport to board the Thai Airways flight to Bangkok. The last time I took this flight, some months ago, the queues extended halfway across the building. This time however check-in is smooth and painless. The airport too seems less full and immigration is a breeze.Sitting in the lounge I run into somebody I had travelled from Bombay to Delhi with a month ago.

Arrive in Turin, an industrial city that prides itself (or so it says at the airport) on being the ‘design capital of the world’. See rather more of Turin’s roads than intended because we get lost and go round and round the city for an hour before finally getting on the highway to Piedmont.

Few hotel openings can have been as eagerly awaited as the launch of Four Seasons in Bombay. Some years ago when I interviewed Bikki Oberoi for the cover of Brunch, he ended by declaring that he was so confident of his Bombay property that he challenged even Four Seasons to run a better hotel! Hoteliers all over India have been waiting to see if the Bombay Four Seasons can live up to the chain’s reputation for luxury.
