Anniversary special
Faber & Faber, the legendary London-based publishing house, is celebrating its 80th anniversary. I wrote about it last Saturday, but a blog lets you do what print can’t, so I shall use that advantage now to put up links to some excellent pieces on Faber, and its anniversary.
Here is Andrew O’Hagan on Faber’s 75th. This is Sam Jordison in the Guardian books blog looks on whether Faber is living on past glory.
The Times (London) has Seamus Heaney, one of the publisher’s Nobel Laureates, and others, talking about the particular charm of being a Faber author.
And the Faber website is a genuine treasure trove. Among other things, listening to their podcast of new fiction is a treat.
And while you are at it, don’t forget to buy some of the books that are being reissued. All details in the first hyperlink above.
