The other day, one of my lunch partners, Varghese George, Delhi Political Bureau Chief of the Hindustan Times, triumphantly placed a jar of beef pickle on the table.
Like most of us, George, an amiable, award-winning journalist from a little village (only 5,000 souls) called Puramattom in God’s own country, 100 km south of Kochi, did not get the pickle from mamma. He made the pickle himself on a recent visit home. Read more
