As much as we are delighted by the Slumdog Millionaire sweep at the Oscars, we know in our hearts that this is not an Indian picture. Danny Boyle may thank the city of Bombay but he also thanked various Hollywood studios and when it was time for the Best Picture Oscar to be awarded, it was a Western producer who accepted it.

I am currently grappling with what we in the trade call a long `think piece’ on terrorism. One aspect of this piece has to do with the definition of a terrorist.
Almost all of us in India were outraged when the BBC refused to call the Bombay attackers terrorists. We saw this as an example of the West’s insensitivity to India’s plight. Read more
