Last week some newspapers carried a picture of Sachin Pilot, a young minister in Manmohan Singh’s government. While one newspaper showed him seated on a charpoy and shaving, another captured him milking a buffalo at a village in Ajmer. The strap-line read: grassroot politics. Simply put this means that the current crop of ministers are making a beeline for rural areas and attempting a people-connect. Read more

I knew Sachin Pilot’s dad: an effusive guy who never stopped talking about his past. Quite understandable. Also politically correct because what use is it to be a milkman if the world did not know about it. Therefore Sachin’s dad, Rajesh Pilot, a Congressman till he was alive, spoke more about delivering milk rather than being an air force officer. Read more
