I’m not the biggest fan of uniformity — by which I mean the notion of schoolkids having to wear uniforms. But I’ve been scratching my stubble ever since I read about the Supreme Court telling a high school student in Madhya Pradesh that he has to shave or else… It’s odd because the court, which I usually associate with obvious observations (“Stealing is bad”, “Incest is evil”, “Caste-based recipes don’t taste good”), has linked the student’s desire to sport a beard with ‘Talibanisation’.
