Today when efforts are on to ignite communal feelings, I remember Mohd Rafiq of Sultanpur — the man who decided to bury abandoned bodies (this he did since 1974) when one day he saw some animals digging their teeth into a human carcass near Panch-Peer Idgah on the banks of the Gomti in the backwaters of Uttar Pradesh.
