I mostly agree with you… but then as per you i would come in the ‘Neurotic’ guy category :))
I’d only say that selfhelp books sometimes do help, but one has to use his brain, and should not believe in everything that it says.
There is nothing wrong with trying to improve urself……. and another point, some regious books can also be considered as self help books/guides.

Amount of attachment/detachment really depends upon how close/deep a relationship is.
Everybody needs the sense of closeness and comfort, and that comes only with deep sense of attachment.

Attachment on the positive side can give you immense joy :)), or may also give immense sadness :((
I’d rather not miss experience of the immense joy part.

Attachment or detachment, both have their own benefits. Its really all about being ‘wise’ with relationships. I really wouldn’t want to have any attachment with a street beggar. Just be wise.

yes u r definitely rite tasneem..at times we really need 2 detach r selves..cuz sumtimes v becume so dependent on oders dat all r actions are in accordance wid dat person. v basically need to stop expectin things from people n jus strt acceptin them..this wud inturn make us a lil detached ..!

n as far as these self help buks r concerned..they r jus buks..itz us ..mortals..who attach so much value to them..if u jus read them n try n absorb the things u like ..n chuck the rest..then i guess there wnt b ne prob..!

I KNOW what ur saying. its exactly what ive said myself in less harsher terms! I know vir sanghvi is brillaint, its little wonder that he’s one of the most reputable Indian journalists we have and I’m a nobody! why dont u guys get it….i’m not playing the hero here…i’m putting myself down,

trying to make a point that here, in this little blogosphere of ours, no matter how thought- provoking and erudite and brilliant mr sanhgvi’s pieces are, my frivilous life and my non-taxing, unintelligent banter gets way more comments. which DOES NOT mean, I am better than he,. I am on the lower rungs of the writers pyramid and light years away from him, in age, experience and talent. naomi i didnt SAY or MEAN that my blog is the best! i said exactly the opposite! that its mediocre! and im not saying comments are the indicators of how good or popular a blog is, but it sure does tell u that what you write makes people want to respond to it. you should know, you get the msot comments

and vikram i am much amused by your little deragatory reference to me and my ya ya sisterhoods high society life!!! im a journalist, i cant afford a high soceity life and neither do i want one. and can i assume you didnt post your comment here going by my pretty, young gal picture plastered on the site?
