A very correct analysis.

It is plain for all to see that Arvind Kejriwal has become a megalomaniac with total disregard for parliamentary procedures. He thinks that he has solutions to all the problems. The fact is the movement has one point agenda – Parliament must pass their version of the Jan Lokpal bill, nothing less would do., as if it is going to solve all the country’s problems.

Earlier, Ms. Bedi had made that ludicrous statement – Anna is India, India is Anna. Indira Gandhi, anyone?

Now Kejriwal states that Anna is above the parliament and has all the rights to pressurise it. What he conveniently forgets to state that collectively we are above the Parliament and not individually.

Tomorrow, he may go around saying that Anna is even above the President of India and has all the “rights” to dictate terms to the nation – parliament, executive, judiciary and what have you. Ayatollah, anyone?

His campaign only against the Congress Party is surely to settle scores.

They will probably use the goodwill of team Anna by paying lip service to the Lokpal cause but in the end be as bad as Hooda, Vadra(who has vast tracts of land in haryana) and the Congress.

Kejriwal by endorsing the wrong horses may end up giving the entire cause a bad name.

Perhaps it would be good to switch back to old format, where the number of messages were limited at a time (200 or 300 or so) page-wise.

To introduce similar division of messages into sub-pages (200 or 300 per page) in this new format.

I was on leave yesterday and so switched on the TV in the morning . I saw Mrs Shobhana Bhartiya”s interview in ” Conversations” on Lok Sabha TV. She came across as being very experienced and having very clear ideas about the Media business in the country. Spoke about why Home TV failed. Her active role in raising social issues as an MP and that she has introduced 3 private bills and as Promoter of HT Media gave an impression of being a hard task master. But what is she going to do about her Mumbai Edition which still lags behind at No 3.
About her priority for the future… she mentioned ” Content”. Now there can be no dispute about that. But what is “good content” is the key issue…. She did not give any hint about that. Is it going to be determined by the “Market “ or by “some core company values” …May be we will have some inkling of her mind some other time….. Whether this or that , none can deny the adage that anything which is not truthful shall not succeed . So my simple request to her is do not move away from truth and public good….. That Arvind Kejriwal is a BJP agent come as no surprise when Anna himself is a RSS agent and ditto ..saffron clad Baba Ramdev. Late Bhajan Lal was a popular secular leader as long as he was in the Congress …and so was Y Rajshekhar Reddy when he was alive. Now that his son is opposed to Congress , he is to be investigated for ill-gotten wealth .. so what if it was accumulated by his late father.
Riots in Rajasthan where only Muslims were killed was a minor aberration , fault of the local officials who alone are to be punished. The National Minorities Commission can look the other way , after all it is Congress ruled state. Now those Riots should be forgotten and life should go on as usual.
Kuldeep Bishnoi is to be condemned because he is father’s son. Chautala is a combination of muscle and power. And JaiPrakash the earstwhile leader of Chaudhury Devi Lal’s ” Green Brigade is paragon of virtue as he is now in the Congress Party.
This is what Mr Vinod Sharma would like all of us to believe.

Let us see few more people who are called apolitcal but they campaign for Congress or other parties, why are they not accused of playing politics?
1. Priyanka Gandhi: She goes around asking people to vote for Congress. Why is she regarded as not in politics?
2. Mahesh Bhatt: In last Lok Sabha elections, he UNOFFICIALLY campaigned for Congress in UP and asked people not to vote for BJP. Why was his acts acceptable to Congress?
3. There are lot of sports personalities, TV actors and film starts who campaign unofficially for diff. parties, why is there no objection against them?

It is right of every citizen to educate one another on pro and cons of voting for a party. Anna and his team are just exercising their right as Vinod Sharma-Digvijay are enjoying their right to malign team Anna.

However at the end of the day team Anna is ideologically very close to Congress and to call them close to Sangh Parivar is mischief of highest order.

I have no quarrel with Vinod’s assessment of the goons battling it out in the Hisar bypoll.

What the Congress strategy, given voice by Diggy, Vinod etc is:

The favourite name with which all dogs are branded before being shot is RSS. Bear in mind, this is just a flavour of the month. The same government is not above branding someone else a Naxal or Maoist or whatever- anything that helps.

The Congress Party is paranoid by the open campaign of Team Anna in the Hissar election They are more worried that if this is repeated in UP too , then the consequences shall be devastating. A former aide of activist Teesta Setalvad has moved the Bombay high court seeking retrial of the 2002 Best Bakery case alleging that the latter not only fabricated evidence and falsely implicated innocent persons but also “managed” the witnesses.
Rais Khan Aziz Khan Pathan, in an affidavit, urged the high court to direct an appropriate court in Mumbai [ Images ] to conduct retrial of the case and record his evidence.

Khan, former coordinator of the Citizen for Justice and Peace, the Mumbai-based non-government organisation headed by Teesta, requested that notice be served on Teesta to explain her conduct and clarify allegations of fabricating evidence in the case.

Khan even demanded lie detector and polygraph tests on himself and Teesta to “bring out the truth”.

The affidavit assumes significance as in April 2011, Shaikh Yasmeen Banu, a key prosecution witness in the case, had also filed an affidavit in the high court alleging she was “lured and misguided” by Teesta into giving false testimony against the 17 accused, of which nine were awarded life term by a Mumbai court.

Fourteen people who had taken refuge in the Best Bakery owned by the Shaikh family in Vadodara in Gujarat were killed by a mob on March 1, 2002, during the post-Godhra riots.

The appeals filed by the nine convicts in the sensational case are pending in the Bombay high court. Khan contended that on instructions of Teesta, he had in the past met Yasmeen in Baroda and requested her to shift to Mumbai where the retrial of the case was in progress.

Yasmeen in her affidavit had accused Khan of cheating her and other witnesses for personal gains, which was denied by him.

Khan contended that he used to get funds from Teesta to organise press conferences for riot victims and meet relevant expenses. He alleged that getting payment for the victims was never Teesta’s priority as she was only concerned to ensure that the witnesses get money.

“While witnesses used to get Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh, the victims were getting only Rs 5,000 (by Teesta),” Khan said. He further stated in the affidavit that he was put up at Sagar Hotel in the Nagpada area of South Mumbai by Teesta for eight months when the trial of Best Bakery case was in progress and was directed by her to keep a close watch on the witnesses.

“After the court issued summons to witnesses, she (Teesta) asked me to bring all of them to Mumbai even before police approached them”, he said.

“Throughout the trial, witnesses were paid Rs 100 a day and the payment was made to them every weekly. Although the court order was to keep witnesses at Vasava Government Hostel in Worli, they were kept at Mariam apartment in Bhindi Bazaar”.

“Neither the police nor the prosecutor ever inquired or asked how these witnesses were so punctually coming to the court for deposition and who is funding their expenses,” he added.

It was stated further in the affidavit that police used to escort every witness to the court and back to the police guesthouse in Worli and during this period nobody was allowed to meet or speak to them.

“As per Teesta’s instructions, I used to provide a mobile phone to each witness so that she can be in touch with them and guide them during their stay in Mumbai,” he said.

“When the Gujarat police were searching for prime witness Zahira Shaikh, Teesta directed me over phone to reach an address in the Alkapuri area of Baroda. When I went there I found she was at a residence of a Muslim woman journalist working with a national daily,” Khan said, adding “Muslim reporters were roped in sentimentally”.

Khan said he had learnt that some of the victims and witnesses like Yasmeen had recently retracted from their earlier statements or affidavits prepared by Teesta’s organisation and that they blamed him for cheating and manipulation.

“These witnesses have put me in a very awkward position and I am afraid that I might be prosecuted by the court for helping the witnesses to give false deposition in the court, which was actually not done by me at all”, he added. out of total 73 witnesses, including Zaheera Shaikh, had turned hostile, saying they had seen nothing the night of the attack.

In February 2006, a Mumbai court had awarded lifer to the nine accused.

Zaheera and other witnesses who had turned hostile were later convicted for perjury.

A good analysis indeed. It is the likes of Kejriwals and Bedis who have honestly deranged the Anna anti-graft movement. I am a bit surprised at the persistence of decent people like Prashant Bhushan with this bunch of clowns. The lack of inclusion of private funded NGOs, media and some vitals sections of the Corporate sector make the Kejriwal et al version of the Lok Pal only a mockery of the anti-corruption campaign and their needless chest thumping. The very soul of this middle class, high caste, urban agitation becomes defunct the moment any member of the agitation starts berating on a political agenda and unfortunately Kejriwal has already committed sin. It now that Team Anna was more interested in “satta parivartan” not “vyawastha parivartan”. I hope they should have learnt from Aruna Roy who brought in the RTI act like a whiff of fresh air- no daily media briefings, no india Gates, and of course no Ramlilas!

Met Dr Devi Shetty and Dr Ashley Da Cruz, two of the best known surgeons of this international center of excellence. At the opulent dinner for delegates, Dr DaCruz spoke of many things, but the largest cheer he got was when he spoke of the galvanising effect of a 75 year old man who captured the imagination of the nation AND INSPIRED US ALL TO DO BETTER.

I saw a KRAANTI in the eyes of millionaire doctors in Corporate hospitals, that I am sad to say is missing from Vinod and the nay sayers on this blog. They want Kejriwal to be perfect- and in that they have missed the whole BLOODY POINT . Kejriwal is the voice of anguish at the loot of centuries, he is the ankur of a revolution. I care two hoots over his minor imperfections.

To me, he is the rage of Veer Savarkar, who dared to break his shackles. He symbolises the rage of men who give up comfy jobs and lifestyles and campaign around the country in 40 degrees C. He is rattling the cages which house Amar Singhs, Kanimozhis, Sharad Pawar and Kalmadi- and I go to bed tonight in distant Yorkshire, happy that someone is doing the dirty task back home which will drag India into the 21 st century of justice and equality.

No sir, the anti corruption movement has to be broad based. From the far right to the far left. It is possible that you would have ideological differences with the Anna movement. Even I have them. But you have to acknowledge that only this movement got the issue to centre stage. We have to give them credit and congratulate them for being hard headed.

Let me push the issue further. You would, it seems admire an anti corruption movement only if it were to be lead by forces who are for a) reservation b) not bothered about conversion c) casteist , you mentioned Anna was, I dont see how, so I will leave this.

For the first time I see light of reason from Vir sanghvi. I never liked him because I do believe he works for certain group of people who are anti Hindu..I believe in God and dieties but I don’t want media and minorities to humiliate us. Any effort to radicalize God fearing Hindus would be great Sin.In your heart you know most of Hindus are tolerant unlike many from mideast religion.
